Wii U is not that great, even at $250 because it seems like it'll be the same thing all over again. You care about Nintendo's first party franchises? Then you buy it, otherwise, don't waste your money.

If it's at $250 the other two consoles will probably look overpriced in comparision because of the rumored hardware inside the console and the controller.

I'd buy it at 299. 249 would be a no brainer.

I'd at least consider getting it day 1 since the price would never get lower, and Nintendo hasn't made a habit of making console redesigns.

I don't know about everything else you said but I'm almost paid it off and planning for $300

The launch line up of Rayman Legends, P-100, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros U honestly has me panicking over how much money I'm going to spend at launch. Not to mention all the other titles that I want like Zombi U, Batman, Cloudberry Kingdom, Trine 2, etc.

Thankfully like I said I already have most of the Wii U paid off so I can save for 4-5 launch games

Not me.... the Wii was a horrible investment if not for SSB: brawl. Xenoblade chronicles is alright.. doesn't really redeem the Wii though.

Yea, right now ~300$ is my day one purchase limit for the Wii U. Though I will be real tempted at 350. 400 or greater, I'll wait.

Yea Sony might drop the PS3 price to $199 but I think with the PS Vita bleeding so much money it would make sense to sell the PS3 at a profit for a while.

And MS thinks the $99 subsidized 360 is a price drop so I doubt it drops at all this year

To be fair, this is Nintendo, and they do have a good(?) reputation amongst more casual video game players who will see that the Wii U is Nintendo's newest system, and at that price, may simply just buy it straight up.

What I'm saying is, at that price, I'm not sure you'd have the luxury of choosing to buy it within the first week due to stores running out of stock.

At that price id consider getting one. I wouldn't pay any more for a current gen console at this point (And no I don't consider it next gen, you just know it will get the same multiplats as ps3/360 then when ps4/720 is out it will be same situation as with the Wii now).

I'd get one at 250 just like I got the Wii. It's the perfect price for a new console.

My prediction: It will launch at $349 with the Wii U tablet, 299 with the Pro gamepad, Wii U tablet 99 bucks solo (2 years from now when you'll finally be able to get one).

Wait what? How is the same thing over again? It has a entirely new controller system and the system is alot more powerful than the last.. By that logic we can say the 360 and the PS3 were the exact same thing all over again from last gen consoles..

No. The GamePad doesn't have analogue triggers so certain driving games and whatever can't use that feature. That would be fine if it could be used for all other types of games and I could maybe just stick to that controller only but... I can't use either the GamePad or Controller Pro for full motion control, so I'll have to get a Wiimote. I can't use the Wiimote for most more traditional games and many VC games so I have to get a controller Pro, unless I don't want to play any of them multi-player. Nintendo has basically made it impossible to get the full Wii exprience without owning mutliple different controllers and possibly multiple of each of those. I don't think I want to reward them for that to be honest.

Are there are actually any games announced for the Wii U that actually uses a Wiimote, as of now?

Your prediction is a bit shocking, but I doubt nintendo would sell a sku of wii-u without the tablet controller. Originally, I suspected a $350+ price tag, but after their poor e3 showing and weak hardware I feel $200-$250 would be a more appropriate price. I'm predicting that the tablet controller will sale for $99.99-$119.99 and pro controller $49.99-$59.99.

If it were at 250, I think even the haters would buy one. Thats just too good of a price, and too good to be true. But its almost certain that they will price it at 300.

It's just a prediction. About the tablet, it's not your ordinary controller and it has a pretty nice screen. A hundred bucks is cheap for that thing. $99.99 seems reasonable especially when standard gamepads run you $59.99.

I'd still be leaving my money right where it is. I can afford one no matter what the (realistic) price, but it's just not likely to be for me. They've shown me nothing so far to convince me otherwise.

Speaking of which, did any new information regarding tech used in the wii-u pad surface? Last year we found out its screen was resistive and lacked multi-touch and many including myself were hoping to see improvements.

I'm not buying one until I see Smash Brothers or Metroid.

And that price probably wouldn't effect the HD twins because I fully expect a price cut from both of them right before the WiiU launches.

A $250 WiiU would sell a bunch during the holidays though.

they'd need games I'd want to buy, or some exceptionally better performing multiplatform titles Nintendo would need some new Metroid and Zelda titles, maybe a new Mario, but I'm not going gagga on another generation-port of Smash Bros or Mario Kart or the Mario sports titles and such, the things we get once every generation with just a new roster and a few new maps. It's too bad too that Luigi's Mansion 2 is going to the 3DS because that would be something I'd buy a Wii U over, oh well though at least I have the GC game anyhow I really hope Nintendo updates how they manage their digital rights, both the Xbox 360 and PS3 manage digital rights on the accounts that purchase them, Nintendo does it off the console or at least they have up until now

Reggie said they 1) Don't like doing price drops. They want Wii U to stay the same price for years and retain its value. 2) "People will be surprised when we announce the price" $250~$300 is likely.

I would be perfectly fine with that, I am getting a Wii U no matter what. I love Nintendo's 1st party, which is worth picking their systems up alone for, and their products are so well built too, never break, never have any problems wiht them.

Of course I'm getting a PS4 next gen as well, love Sony's devs and games too, and it will be powerful with better 3rd party support. While all compaines exist to make a porfit, both Sony and Nintendo do it while making their fans happy. MS however does not, they only just care about the profits and that's it.

I have zero interest in the 720. They will have to make some big changes for me to get one, like offer better exclusives, free online gaming, not sh!tty hardware ect...

If the online community is good (and it may very well be from what we know) I would buy it for 250. I know it'll get great games that won't be available anywhere else.
