Games that come to mind are Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil Remake. How about you, SW?

Quite a lot, but not much in recent years.

Streets Of Rage 4 comes to mind. Designed to be played multiple times. It was refreshing to just play an extremely tight, well-made game focusing on gameplay first and foremost without modern bloat. Definitely captures the arcade feeling got as a kid.

Need to get back to it at some point and check out the DLC.

The original Zelda, FTL, Resident Evil 7, most mega mans, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and some of the less gritty shmups.

Shit, way more than I can remember.

Guess most recently was another Bayo 1 play through last week. Tetris Effect last week too if you count Journey Mode as a full game.

Way too many to list. Most are the typical arcade type games like Contra, TMNT, Final Fight, Mega Man, etc. Most recent ones were some of the games in Capcom Stadium Arcade collection on the Switch.

Don't think I've ever done that. I like to take breaks and frequently restart after doing something I felt was wrong. I once scrapped a Skyrim play-through and started over 150 hours in just because I didn't like the look of my character's eyeliner and chin.

Maybe a Call of Duty game, back when I used to play them before quitting after Black Ops 1. I do remember being done with at least one of them in a single night. But that's only because they're 5 1/2 hours long, as linear as a pencil, and once you've played one you've played them all.

One that always sticks out to me was that Devil May Cry everyone hated with the brown haired Dante. I rented it and before I knew it was over in the first day... It was ok. But yeah pretty weak DMC game, on par with 2.

Recently tho, THPS remaster, blasted through the challenges on 1 and 2 the first day I got it, but I remembered most of them which probably made it go by so fast.

None. I like taking my time with games, and with the exception of Diablo 2 I don't like playing more than 2 hours consecutively before I do something else so I almost never play more than 3-4 hours total on any given day.

Not many. Recently Hades, you can finish that in 30 mins. And The Artful Escape which is only about 4 hours.

Buncha short ones.

Like those.

@uninspiredcup said:

And that.

And a bunch of shmups, and other 8/16-bit games.

I don't think I've ever completed a game that takes more than 6 hours in one sitting. It's not a challenge I'd enjoy doing.

Fable. back in 2001 I mowed grass and worked all summer to get money to buy an OG Xbox because the game looked so awesome. I bought the console and preordered the game to pick it up on release, and beat it the next day. I was so disappointed.

Good question, I don't have any recent memory of doing this but I do know I've beaten Donkey Kong Country 2 in one sitting once. I was a teen and extremely bored at my uncle's house, they happened to have an SNES ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Dark Souls 3 NG++in a day for my platinum trophy.
  • completed Pokemon Leaf Green in a day.
  • Apex Legend, I won a round on Olympus map today.
  • Breath of Fire 4
  • Completed Suikoden 2 in a day (there is a side mission where u need to do stuff under 20 hour)
  • CoD4 and MW2 remastered (Free on PS+, blasted the whole game in few hours)
  • The Raiden Project on PS1

There have been many but not any recent ones. As many have stated, 8 and 16 bit games were a must as most didn't have a save feature. Badges of honor I have from that time are the first Ninja Turtles and Battletoads among others.

During the PS1 days the original three Resident Evil games could be done in one shot. I could beat the first game by memory on just under 90 minutes. I could similarly beat the Remake of it in about 2 and a half hours.

The most recent I did was the first Uncharted during my first play of it. My family was out for the day visiting other family. To me about 9 hours and I loved every minute. Of course, I haven't had the opportunity or time for that kind of play session since.

Honestly can't remember. Last game I beat in one-sitting was probably on the NES or something.

Looking at this thread, I must say, you guys should check out gems like Limbo or The Unfinished Swan. They’re excellent one-sitters. So is PT.

Lots and lots of NES and SNES games.

The Castlevanias, mega man's, contra (with the code of course), zelda, Mario... I mean my entire childhood was beating games in one sitting.

Tons of 8Bit games didn't have save features, so I beat them in one sitting. If I could beat them at all, that is. Most were hard as s☆☆☆,.

As for modern games it usually takes ages for me to complete them. I like to take it slow and I usually play on the highest difficulty setting, forcing many retries.

I don’t think I’ve ever beaten one in one sitting, it used to take me months when I was a kid and got stuck on certain missions, now usually Atleast a month or 2 to complete most games, depending how busy I am.

All 3 new tomb raiders. They are short as hell.

Honour mode run divinity 2 in a single day. That shit took some effort and preperation.

Surprised this wasn't brought up sooner or more frequently.

At this point it's basically Mcdonalds where, even if some rando asshole say they hate it, chances are probably still played it.

Pretty much every game can be completed in 2-4 hours. Half the time barely even doing shit now. Interactive movie.

It just means I know what I'm talking about any time I rake another one of these games over the coals. Again, I haven't played a COD game since Black Ops 1, because as far as I'm concerned, I've already played them all.

And BTW, I like Maccers. I do prefer Burger King, but Maccers is still fine.

Pretty much most arcade games and/or arcade-style games. They're designed to be played in one sitting... if you don't keep dying.

The last one for me was Streets of Rage 4 last year. Because it's an arcade-style game.

There might have been a handful in the past, but I can't remember.

I don't have the attention span to play games for extended periods of time. Roughly I can probably play for 2 hours max then I need to take a break. On the contrary, I can marathon through TV series if I feel up to it, which is strange. Maybe games are just more mentally taxing for me.

I feel as if because I take frequent breaks and don't rush my time with games, I can really savour the experience and in turn, have a more well rounded opinion by the end of it. Obviously not for everyone, it's just how I like to consume most entertainment.

lol, damn.

I think I might be a very slow Metroid player. My gametime says ~5 hours and I have like 15% items. By the time I'm done with it, I'll probably have 20+ hours.

I am a completionist when it comes to Metroid though. No missile upgrade will go uncollected on my watch.

The original Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros. 2

Super Mario Bros. 3

Rygar (took at least two hours to finish as there is no ability to save the game)

Trojan

I had not been able to finish a game in a single session ever since the NES era as the games I played since that time required me to spend several sessions (days or even weeks) to complete them. All of them with the ability to save my progress.

Lately none, almost Metroid Dread I thought it had at least several hours in it, but finished in an hour in my second session, It was a little more than 8 hours, could hve been less but i didn't find the super missiles and went to search for them in all sectors just to find them practically in the same room i started searching.

Nice.

Last for me would probably be Hades. Didn't actually see the credits roll in one go, but I played through my first 17 attempts straight until I escaped.
