Nintendo 64 controller: yes, I said it. I like the Nintendo 64 controller. I can't imagine playing Mario 64 without it. Or Zelda, or GoldenEye. I loved the positioning of the controller and the use of the joystick and Z buttons are my all time favs. I remember learning Z targeting in OOT for the first time. Blew my mind. Or using the joystick to do my finisher in WWF No Mercy. I love this controller so much I bought the Switch one lol.
Switch Pro controller: the Switch Pro controller is fantastic. Has a great overall feel, the triggers are actually pretty good, and somehow Nintendo was able to get a 40 hour battery life on it. Kudos to you, Nintendo!
Backbone One: this is for mobile games, which I don't do a whole lot of but this thing feels fantastic when you use it. Actually makes mobile gaming tolerable.
Xbox Series X controller: ergonomically, this controller feels fantastic in your hands. And when the X1 came out back around 2013ish, these triggers were really cool. Nowadays, the controller feels outdated. it's still good, but not quite as good as my next guest..
DualSense: definitely one of the best controllers. I like that Sony tried to innovate and I think they largely succeeded. The haptic feedback and adaptive triggers feel great. As someone who is a manticore, often times I'll choose the PS5 version because I know developers are utilizing these features. Overall, the DualSense feels good in your hands and I don't feel tension like I do when I use the Elite controller. Battery life is a contentious issue, but from what I gather, I get 10 hours or so which is fine for me.
What about you, SW? What are your favorite game controllers of all time?
