I didn't know that there was a solid definition for the genre that excluded Nuts & Bolts? In N&B you are going from platform to platform, but instead of jumping, you are using vehicles. Unique, and kind of out there. A hybrid platformer/racer, but still technically a platformer.
Metroid Prime is part platformer, and by your reckoning wouldn't be considered one because there is shooting.

Yeah...no. Here's how most of the game plays out:1. Enter world.
2. Look at mini-map and go to "Actor" (No exploration what so ever).
3. Talk to "Actor" and find out what to do (Which involves a Time-Limit, which was stupid).
4. Pull out blue-print and modify existing vehicle.
5. Do repetitive challenge that 99% of the time doesn't involve platforming.
6. Repeat steps 2-5.
Really, to call it a platformer (Or a true sequel for that matter) is an insult to the originals. Love it all you want, but it's a piss-poor platformer.
You sound just likeus meanhearted elitist oldschool fallout fans..TEH irony! ;)
Dude, I REALLY don't need your input, so can you please go?
