Hideo Kojima and Microsoft have signed a letter of intent that states the two parties intend to work out the details on a publishing agreement for a new Xbox game, according to sources familiar with the matter. This is a key step in the negotiations between the Metal Gear Solid creator and the Xbox company. This signifies that both parties have agreed to a generalized deal while lawyers continue hashing out the finer points.

Microsoft and Kojima’s teams have spent months discussing a possible partnership, and now it is more likely than ever that those conversations will bear fruit. The deal is so close that Microsoft has begun preparing for what Kojima will need to make his new game.

In seriousness, it appears to be just a publishing deal for an exclusive game, but the title had to be vague to make Cows feel that cold shiver in their spine for a few seconds. 😁

So basically MS will have its first Kojima game, probably a 60-something on MetaCritic, that takes years to make, about same time we start establishing colonies on Mars.

I kind of thought it there was a place for him at MS, it would have been at The Initiative or whatever, that hodgepodge of collaborative industry leaders brainstorming future gaming IPs. That way he can be influential, but collaberate with others that won't let him hold the whole thing back, or won't let him over-design a project and keep it within a scope it needs to stay in.

It's going to be on PC. PC gamers winning once again.

Honestly the only real positive I see out of this is the guarantee of the game coming to PC. In that sense, it's better he signs with MS, as Sony might well not allow the game to come to PC, or at least not right away. With MS, there will be no wait.

Since Microsoft makes it so easy to not own or buy games I can just do this at release.

Step 1: buy series X

Step 2: buy gamepass trial for a dollar

Step 3: beat game in 30 days

Step 4: return Series X for a full refund.

Get Konami in on it and lets see OG MG and MG2 get remade.

Incorrect. The Metal Gear series began on the MSX first of all. MG1, MG2, MGS2 and MGS3 are on Microsoft platforms.

Its Ironic, the only modern console you can play MGS2-3 right now is on Xbox. Without streaming them via Sony's ancient Onlive-era PS3 blade servers from 2011.

If you do all this to play one game you are out of your mind.

I think its amazing how marketable Kojima is. Wonder what engine will he use next cause I dont think Sony will allow Decima Engine on other platforms. Regardless amazing news from Xbox, they must really loved Death Stranding to nail down Kojima soon as his contract with Sony ends.

I never bought Death Stranding and I'm already not interested in this game because of that.. lol. Now, that said, I would love to be pleasantly surprised and see him pull his head out of his own ass long enough to come up for air and prove the old dog still has something left in the tank.

LOL Kojima! Seems like MS haven't played or even watched how DS plays. I mean Konami fired him then Sony hired him but they also practically gave up on him as soon as they saw the crap he made.

EDIT: Reading the article, it almost feels like the deal has more to do with Kojima using MS's technologies like Cloud infrastructure and backend services more than an exclusive deal.

I think most people gave up on Kojima the only good games he made was MGS 1 & 3 great story, MGS 2 had a terrible story but did have great gameplay, MGS 4 had awesome sound and gameplay but the cutscenes killed the game for me, MGS 5 was a bad game seem unfinished, Death Stranding have it still got bored after 10 hours, I hope he doesn’t F**k up this one

He better make a game more like PT and less like Post Apocalypse FedEx Guy if I ever look at a Kojima game ever again.

Thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere I can play my copy of Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5 on it and see it all in 4K glory 😎 Also want to check out the features! Never played Ninja Gaiden Black 😮 only Sigma. I do think it's cool that you can play MGS HD Collection on there. My first new game purchase will probably be Forza Horizon 5.
