On one hand I like the big ass number and fractions achievements provide.

On the other hand getting a platinum feels special.

That being said, I never had a trophy of mine deleted to my knowledge in my 2012+ tenure at PlayStation. I have lost numerous telltale achievements and Microsoft customer service sucks.

What are your alls thoughts? Which is better system?

@dark_drag765: I'm a numbers guy, so getting achievements feels more satisfying.

Getting trophies is boring, it feels like an after thought.

I prefer trophies just for the platinum one, When the game isn't that special to you, then they're somewhat irrelevant, but with a game you like a platinum trophy just feels good.

I can do both and learned to like them but truth be told, I prefer achievements the most as I always like to look at the higher numbers. Trophies just sound boring to me. Kinda a surprise Nintendo never did their own thing like Medal for example.

Like them both but have a preference towards Achievements myself. Could be because they were first so I’m just more accustomed to them. Wish Nintendo would have a similar system as well. Just feels nice to have an account wide system like Achievements/Trophies for all the games you play.

Always trophies.

Its simply the best completion tracking method for me. Platinuming it means you 100% what the devs challenges you in base game. Its simple. You get it, share it on game subreddit and move on.

For games that requires online bullshit like Far Cry or Ass Creed multiplayer I just turn off the trophy pop up on PS so it dont trigger my need to 100% every game.

I dislike cheevos popping up on the bottom of the screen, blocking subtitles or whatever. They linger for ages, too. Trophies is up top, quick, gone.

Was most engaged with achievements during the 360 era. Trophies always seemed like an afterthought, but I don't bother with either anymore. More fun tk play the game on my own terms and move on rsther than follow instructions to rack up gamerscore. I don't have negative opinion on them, just not really my focus.

You do realise that you can move where the achievement pops up on screen right?

From bottom left, middle to bottom right to middle of the screen on the left or right hand sides and on top of the screen in the top left, middle or top right.

I'm more interested in the percentage of gamers that popped Achievements/Trophies than the pop itself.

I'm amazed when I'm playing a 5+ yo game and 85% of gamers have beaten the first boss, but it drops to 35% of gamers by the second boss. It's shocking how few gamers actually finish games, nevermind 100%ing them.

Thinking of turning them on now with the options they added. Like getyer said, it was crazy seeing the percentages drop. Every game. Every platform. Always happens.

Maybe video game epilepsy attacks are more common than we thought and we're part of the elite that can play games past the tutorial.

For instance, I just fired up The Surge 2 and received a Trophy for acquiring an Exo-Rig. It takes five minutes, tops. Only 71.4% of gamers have acquired it. That means that nearly 30% of gamers didn't play more than five minutes of this game. Crazy.
