I have been playing this game for the last few nights with lights out and the sound up. And, wow! This is an incredibly scary game! Does anyone else agree/disagree?

Both REmake and 7th Guest were all very scary. However, I can't really say that Eternal Darkness scared me... at all. I was actually really disappointed with that.

The Fatal Frame games are pretty terrifying, but the Siren games really freak me out. It's the whole experience. The sounds, the music, the weird shibito, the environment, etc. A real spook for me.

Hell yes! The hospital level is worth it alone. A dark and broken down hospital. Shibito roaming around doing weird things. You play as a tiny girl with no combat whatsoever. It's a stealth level and my god, it's eerie as all hell. Buy it!

I have Eternal Darkness. I played it for 20 minutes and couldn't go on because I found it impossible to take the game seriously. It was anything but scary.

Yes I agree. I remember playing Fatal Frame on the PS2 at my friends house (can't remember which one). It was like 1 a.m. and we were scared like crazy.

Silent Hill 2/3 are my top scary games with REmake right behind. Silent Hill was certainly a more psychological scare with its heavy atmosphere. In REmake, the tension of not knowing when the Crimson Heads would rise again really spooked me a few times, they really amped up the game to a new level never reached in the original.

I played a few minutes of Fatal Frame on PS2 (not sure which one) but it was definitely spooky. Might look into it again sometime.

I shall come out of my temporary hiatus simply to say "System Shock 2" in this thread; I feel it needs it.

The "cIassic" horror games simply don't scare me, but there's just something about SS2 that horrifies me every time I play through it.

Really? My 4 year old watched me play L4D.... he's all "Daddy shoot the bad guys, YaaahhhH!!!!"

I said "Doesn't this scare you"

he says "no"

I don't particularly like him seeing things like that.... but whatever, it doesnt scare him, he doesnt have bad dreams and he's a well adjusted kid. But maybe thats because I actually spend time with him, talk to him, and explain the difference between reality & fiction and right & wrong.

I've never played it, just the demo actually lmao. It's pretty much like F.E.A.R., Silent Hill 2, and System Shock combined with better graphics. Thats a good thing too! lmao

Me neither. I mean Iv been in someones basement by myself with the lights off and its a scary ass atmoshphere. I thought something from the game was going to manifest itself and break through the door. I always play with my lights off in my room with horror games, but sometimes I make a excuse to turn the lights on so I wont feel like such a wuss. I honestly never beat SH1-3 cause I would get into it and not have the balls to keep going.

I felt more like I was playing an RPG with II & III rather than a survival horror game. They're really more of horror RPGs.

But the original was pretty scary.
