Looks like CDs is trying to match Bethesda a least in sheer quality. They know where the community is at. Unlike *cough Rockstar who tries to stop it.

Open world RPG’s, especially those made by Bethesda tend to benefit from an immensely long shelf life, selling many units long after the game’s release. This is partially down the mammoth amount of content included in the games, but is also because the developer allow gamers include mod tools that allow gamers to alter the game in new and interesting ways. Developer CD Projekt Red promises that the mod tools found in “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” will be just as deep and nuanced.

“During the development of the game we had to create many new things, many tools, and at this moment, this software, the REDKit, our REDEngine, is good but it’s complicated to use. Now we’re working to make it easier for the public, and then we will release it, we want to give as much freedom as possible so that you can do everything you want.”

Good choice on their part. It keeps a series like the Witcher thriving for years too come and cash flowing.

@lostrib: Didn't TW2 had those? Though the sex scene is softcore only.

Good to know.

Yeah PC gamers can create cheat mods, make overpowered items etc...nah games should be played in vanilla mode for best experience imo

Sega and Creative labs have launched some excellent modding tools for Total War Atilla as well

Apart from the fact that by far the majority of mods for most games are not cheats.

Do you go out of your way to sound like a console gamer stereotype?

Sounds awesome. No mods in open world game = missed opportunity.

Not sure if you guys are trolling at this point or if it's satire. I refuse to believe it's stupidity of that magnitude.

Actually most mods make the game harder. Check the Nexus if you don't believe me.

Maybe modders can improve the combat, but good news anyways.

well that was because they released mod tools 2 years after the game release. Also there are quite a few mods. Far from the extent of skyrim but still. This time releasing them with the game is great news

@TheShadowLord07: yeah that's what I'm hoping too, the combat in Witcher games has always been awful. In Skyrim there are mods that change combat.

Considering it's the last Witcher game at least for a while this is a great way to extend it's life by years and over time sell many more units that they usually would.
