The Witcher 3 delayed till May 19th

Dear Gamers,

Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.

Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.

they had trouble making a deeper game.. I'm not suprised... the previous 2 games were so small scale....

As long as they can produce the best quality of game, nobody will be concerned. A release from 24th February to 19th March is hardly a setback for anyone. There are tons of other games to play anyways.

I am OK with this. Take your time guys. Total War : Attila will keep me busy till then and frankly I was worried that both games are releasing close to each other and I won't get enough time for Attila . Lol.

Ok, i love CDPR and TW3 is my most anticipated game of 2015, but a second delay, specially after some questionable screenshots (still looks great), isn't giving me confidence.

I still believe in them more than any devs, but for the first time, i'm truly worried about TW3

The real reason: "The xbone version is holding us back. We need more time to make it as good as the PS4 version. Sorry."

im sure its probally to fix alot of glitches and stuff and they dont wanna pull a Ubisoft

Oh definitely. It's just that the game is now more than 6 months late from teh original Q4 release date. So far this gen, delays haven't exaclty helped much.

So i'm just abit uneasy after a second one. But like i said, i trust CDPR has developers.

No harm I guess. I wasn't planning to get it on release day anyway. And I prefer a delay rather than a broken game.

Zelda WII U, Halo 5 and Uncharted 4 all delayed to 2016.

Guess we'll have to wait that much longer to taste some sweet console fanboy tears when they see the PC version compared to the potato version.

I'm looking forward to the game, but I don't mind a delay. I have plenty of other stuff to play.

I believe Halo 5 will make it but I have VERY little confidence that Zelda U and UC4 will release next year.

I am worried too. It is still my most anticipated game but honestly I never wanted Witcher to go open world. I wanted them to improve upon Witcher 2's formula . Hopefully they'll be able to pull it off and delay is not related to consoles.

Not a big enough of a delay to put in interesting gameplay.

I do like the open world chance, since it fits my taste, but, if they're biting off more than they can chew, then just make it linear.

Still, i'm not gonna jump to conclusions. If they deliver on that E3 35 minute long video, i'll be happy

And they said, that just plays like shit and look hideous. We should hould give Sony a chance by not releasing Witcher 3 so close. Sony is already broke.

Do we have a proof that latest footage was from PC.? It doesn't make sense for them to not show case nVIDIA's hair tech for PC in the latest build. His hair is missing just like E3 demo that was for Xbox One. The difference between two screenshots reminds me of difference between Witcher 2 PC and Xbox 360.

I'd rather them take their time and release a working game late, instead of a broken one on time. The Witcher 3 is bigger than any project they've done prior and misjudging the amount of work left can be difficult.

At the same time, this gives my wallet some time to recover from the holidays.

Yeah , that's strange indeed. Should've addressed this issue. Still, if that footage is from PC version then it is indeed a downgrade, if not then it is console hardware's fault and the stuff that was promised (in older trailers) is still there in the form of PC version.

Would much rather they take their time and do it right. Hell if it's still not done by then and it's delayed again so be it. I'm sick of games not worth their price tags and not even close to being remotely finished.

i was okay with Bloodborne delay because i had TW3 in February and now that's delayed. F***. Now there's not a single game im interested in until March wtf... time to quit gaming and go play golf.

Getting the game right is more important than reacting to impatient gamers.

Damn! That's disappointing... but hopefully will mean a better game in the end. Such a long wait though :(

They're afraid of Bloodborne taking off PS4 sales. I was about to buy Bloodborne and Witcher 3 in that period but now I can opt for The Order: 1886 instead of the witcher

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be out the same time as The Witcher 3, so that's a plus. lol!!

its got nothing to do with resolution because the bottom image still looks super crisp. there is a huge difference in lod, its undeniable

This is far better than apologising after the game is released. There are a lot of publishers who could learn from this, especially looking at recent history.

Delusional? Resolution aside, the current graphics are no where near their initial reveal of the game

Good job calling the downgrade people, you delayed it 3 months

The downgrade made them realize, I doubt it will improve by much.

But oh well good news for Bloodborne, now it might have the chance to sell more than 100K copies.
