It wanted hits to its site, and it will get them. Also, that site's credibility is a joke.Stevo_the_gamerThis is my belief as well. That site bashes almost every big title that comes out. Its pathetic, but I wanted to see what System Wars thoguht of it. He makes some decent points in his review though....
So are we really going to make the strong accusation that this site bashes games for notoriety? And if we make that assumption, and its widely accepted, why does Metacritic allow their reviews in the average? Or are these guys just jaded gamers? My thoughts. This site smashes a lot of big games, so I suppose ME2 was no exception.

By the way, its highest rated PS3 game -- as noted by Gamerankings -- is "Alone in the Dark"; (Gamespot gave this game a 6.5, IGN gave it a 3.1 I think). That's higher than Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid IV, Little Big Planet, and the same as Demon's Souls. lol. xDStevo_the_gamerIn other words they troll to get site traffic. Patethic.

I noticed these guys a long time ago, maybe they are just harsh. I guess ME2 got you to notice them, but they have been around, smashing blockbusters down for quite some time.:P
I think honestly they are probably jaded a bit....but it could be any other theories as well.
As I said in an earlier thread, Gamecritics seem to be the Armond White of the gaming community.
Those of you who don't know who Armond White is, he is a movie critic who is notorious for rating great movies poorly and bad movies highly. Recent examples are that he gave Inglourious Basterds, Avatar, District 9 and Up negative reviews yet liked Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe. Mr. White, and Gamecritics, seem to enjoy just being a contrarian for contrarian's sake. They enjoy stirring controversy and don't really have a good reason for it

That review states that Mass Effect 2 is nothing more than a third person shooter with a dialogue system with limited choices... I think, my french is a lil rusty.
"Mass Effect 2 a perdu ou altéré quasiment tout ce qui faisait de son prédécesseur un jeu de rôle pour devenir un shoot à la troisième personne à peine glorifié par des dialogues et des choix scénaristiques qui se limitent en grande partie à choisir dans quel ordre on remplira nos objectifs."
To me, the Mass effect saga is the best franchise this gen (with Dead space close second), and ME2 is a SOLID 9.0. Only thing that really bothered me with that game was the scanning of planets (also stated in the GS review). I think GS was spot on.
Giving it below 9.0 is unjust though. Perhaps the reviewer really got angry at the scanning and various bugs within the game, which will be fixed in coming patches. Giving the game a 7.5 is blasphemy.

"Console Obsession" gave it an 8/10.

Personally I think GR and Metacritic need to tighten up which publications count towards the aggregate score.

well they gave mass effect 1 a 10/10 so it seems they're just rabbid mass effect fanboys who got angry for it being almost nothing like me1SilenthpsThis. I partially agree too. I dont like how it was dumbed down. Then again, the only thing I had to complain about with ME1 was the loading times and pop in.
I don't agree with the score but he makes valid points on cover, inventory management, and exploration.
Ignore the score, and use the review as a way to look over the flaws of the game. ME2 has been placed on a very high pedestal, a place it deserves, but it's not a flawless game.
Same guy gave Assassins Creed 2 a 5.5 out of 10.

His opinion is worthless really.

seriously that guy should befired after AC2 and this
Okay, he gave it a 7.5. Great. Reviews = opinion, and no gaming journalist has ever signed a contract saying that they will always agree with the masses. How is this something worth discussing?

Nice Norma Jean avatar. The reviewer and the website is one huge joke. They gave Ninja Blade an 8 (really a 8 come on now), Dragon Age an 5.5, Witcher an 5 and Assassin's Creed 2 an 5.
I actually don't mind that review. I may not agree with all of it, but he makes some valid points (especially regarding the pacing, the borderline tiring focus on action, and general lack of concern about Shepard coming back from the dead), and I understand that someone (especially a big fan of ME1) could be disappointed by many of the changes,
What's hilarious is that you'll see the same posters saying "Oh man Brad, you are SOOOO right." for just about every one of his questionable reviews. It's Gamecritics is THE site to register with if you despise fun...Same guy gave Assassins Creed 2 a 5.5 out of 10.
