The Good

• The improved visuals make for a prettier and more meaningful experience thanks to the incredibly vivid detail in the faces
• The combat feels much tighter thanks to handful of quality-of-life improvements
• The tremendous suite of accessibility options sets a new standard for accessibility in games
• There are tons of new unlockable goodies to pour over well after finishing the game

The Bad

• Level design is lacking by today's standards
• The absent multiplayer mode is sorely missed

Sounds fair. Basically the same game with updated visuals, gutted multiplayer, but an additional $10 to the price tag.

They forgot to mention the cash grab part this game deserves a lower score plus this is the second remaster of this title Naughty Dog seem to be creatively bankrupt.

@warmblur: I wouldn't say creatively bankrupt so much as it seems like they're capitalizing on the soon to be television show. Sounds like a smart business decision, especially for those who will watch the show who haven't.

OP: As for the game, interesting how it first came out with a ton of 10's and now it's 8's for this remaster, which I suppose makes sense as taste changes over time with games, and of course keeping into consideration different generations playing the game who never have before. Either way, I'm not buying this game ever. I've played it on my PS3 and that's all I needed.

ooff, solidgame must be butt hurt right now because you beat him to this thread. Tlou1 is a great game, and its good to see the graphics getting a massive update, but $70 is a steep price. Hopefully they drop this price to $20 soon.

Are any of the 9 or 10 reviews even taking the increased price into account?

I would say no.

Let's say I liked the original The Last of Us and thought it was an 8/10. I'd remove points from a remake if it had the same price as the original release. But this one costs even more, so I'd take away even more points. The changes seem ok, some good, some bad, but they weren't needed at all. Let's say I enjoyed the MP of the game. I'd be pretty bummed out that it's gone, so I'd remove some more points. Left would be a 5/10 or so.

This would have been a great deal for $39.99. Anything over that is a complete waste. It better sell poorly to send Sony a message.

• Remastered game PS4 for $49.99
• Remake on PS5 for $69.99

Less content for more money. This just seems like a bad deal.

This is why gaming isn't the same as it used to be. Way too many remasters and remakes of games that are still completely playable on their legacy consoles. People will happily give Sony $70 to play virtually the same game they have already tried to sell them twice. I still have not beat the remastered version of the first game, but I will happily complete that version (eventually) instead of shelling out $70 to play this one. Maybe I will try it if I ever subscribe to one of the PS+ higher tiers and it comes to it, though since it is a remake, I am sure it will be in the highest tier. I will not support Sony or this practice with a purchase of this cash grab.

They're talking about its missing the MP from PS3/PS4 which was really great. Not having MP in the Remake and asking $70 is way too much for what this game is worth.

Metacritic describes it as a "All-New Remake" which sounds oxymoronic to me

agreed. i'd have been happy to pay a reasonable remaster upgrade price to play tlou rebuilt on the tlou2 engine. but it's currently £64.99 on amazon uk, discounted from £69.99. really hope it tanks in sales

Santa Monica and ND are the best in the business🤡 Nobody at MS is even close, and don't be too surprised if none of them reach Sony's quality by the end of this generation. No matter how much cash MS has, talent is lacking💩💩💩

I'd purchase this for $25-$30, but not for $70. A remake of a remake is not working for someone who has already played through the game.

Of course IGN gave it a 9 ... Still, it's not a bad game, an 8 seems to be fair since the game is dated by now, but the plot is still worth it IMO.

This is one of those watershed moments in gaming I'll be watching.... Are we so depraved for good experiences in the hobby to actually spend that kind of money on a game so many of us have played so many times or will gamers hold the line as nothing significant has been added to the experience? Do we run the industry or are we lost in it?

If you are a fist time player, pc gamer or whatever, enjoy the hell out of it! It's still too expensive, but it's a great experience... For those like me who know the game in and out, I'm kinda hoping you don't feed the practice of what this game is doing. It feels gross.
