The Evil Within can't run at locked 60fps, apparently

It seems the reports of massive frame rate issues when unlocked are correct. Holding a steady stream is almost impossible for high end cards. According to reports, it gets worse in some of the latter chapters.

Take an engine made for the purpose of getting 60fps on consoles, modify it, make it run like shit at 60. Simply amazing.

Especially disappointing since Rage and Wolfenstein The New Order ran at 60 FPS on PS3 and 360, and then there's this. Comes down to the developers really.

@GoldenElementXL: Maybe, but the 4670K was having drops in the video. The FX 8350 perfoming so low when it benchmarks 60+ on games like Wash Dogs, shows the shit optimization.

Most of the time I'm above 50fps but chapter 11 so far has been 30-40.

It's has really shitty optimization, still the best game that's ever been on idtech5 however.

Guess I should be ok with my 4771 and GTX 770/4GB although I really don't want to pay for this before I try it. I'd rather not pay €60 at all in fact.

Ya but that is more understandable and accepted for $400 system. But when you payed $1000-2000 for a PC and have to play with 30fps etc you get pissed

30 fps is borderline unacceptable for me. i'm gonna be a hard sale to close.

Desperate peasant. Still a betetr performance than consoles. Meanwhile:

Shadow of Mordor takes very little to run at 60fps, while consoles are stuck at 30fps

Alien Isolation runs at 1080p 60fps on weak pcs. Consoles stuck at 30fps.

Borderlands Pre-sequel the same has Borderlands 2. Easy.

I had the parts for some time but just installed everything and ran a few benches yesterday. I have some cable work and need to move some things around. But I'm happy with it so far.

RAGE engine, of course it runs like garbage.

That doesn't bother me. I would still play on consoles or PC.

lol no it doesn't. It's 1080p on PC, superior AA, and no framerate dips if you run it out the box. Even PC fails are superior to their console counterparts. Nice try though.

They are using multiple haswell CPU's and multiple GPU's.

Also if a i3 4330 is out performing a i7 3970X then its clear that this a straight port in the sloppiest of ways.

A i3 4330 combined with a 260X gets 30FPS... That will cost you $450-550 to build.

The reason why this thread exists is because its a poorly optimized game but even then to reach console level you don't need more than a entry level GPU... And that's fail to you?... My god , enjoy your 900p 30FPS in future games buddy.

if you have a budget PC it's actually pretty solid performance. 1080p, rock solid 30fps, and good AA. If you have a console lol. If you have a beefy rig lol it wont take advantage of it.

consilites aren't the best and brightest of gamers my friend. He is having a hard time grasping what exactly is happening here.

You dont build a crappy PC like that, if you get a gaming PC you want something that is better than that and can run other games that is not locked/limited with higher settings than this game.

I have the game on PC and it runs perfectly fine at 30 frames per second. The Evil Within has great gameplay and graphics as well.

Some people will find anything to complain about, no matter how insignificant.

I agree its a pretty good game.

shouldn't matter to gamers if consistency in opinions is to be maintained, after all Dark Souls framerate took a plunge in Blight Town and that game was hyped to high heaven by almost anybody with an opinion

People dealt with the shitty frame rate in Dark Souls because at the time there was no PC version and nothing anyone could do about it. The only option was to simply not play it...tons of people were always complaining about the shit frame rate in that game.

"Shouldn't matter" sounds like a console gamer's stance on frame rate. It only doesn't matter because console gamers have no say in the frame rate their games run at.

The game is poorly coded both on pc and consoles. Look at the low resolution and frame rates on the consoles and on pc the dual core i3 2100 outperforms the eight core fx-8350 and the i3 4330 outperforms the six core i7 3970x.
