'Nintendo Switch doesn't have Netflix, but it will soon have a calculator app.

The application, simply named Calculator, launches on the Nintendo Switch eShop tomorrow,12th May, priced £8.09.

Calculator is a third-party app, not made by Nintendo, and one of the rare few non-gaming applications to make it onto the eShop. Of course, some people do find maths fun - perhaps even a game! I am not one of these people.

"A scientific calculator with a clear easy-to-read multi-line display, which should help with those not-so-easy-to-do maths problems," its eShop description reads. "Calculator has an appealing modern and practical design, sure to be popular with all students and engineers."

Calculator's colour scheme will likely be familiar to anyone who has used Apple's calculator app for iPhone. Apple bundles this app in for free, of course, but you'll need to buy an iPhone to get access. Who's saving money now?!

The Nintendo Switch Calculator app has scientific functions. You can sine and tan. You can cosine. And you can analyse the fact you spent £8.09 of your money on a Calculator app.'

This is good if you need a way to tip for a pizza or calculate how much your saving on a sale hopefully it goes free to play

I'm so excited for this one. I've been waiting for this game for a while now. It looks like a GOTY contender for sure.

I need help though. I didn't realize modding my handheld into a sex robot with LABO would make it go portable. Just beware the sex robot is out there, my Ultron took a life of its own and I haven't seen it in days. Please bring my sex robot, it hasn't been charged in days.

Nintendo continues to rip the consumer off, or on this occasion the developer. People should jump onto the lawsuit train.

If it can match the costly Ti-86/89 like we used in high school and college years back it could be a great excuse to sit in back of classrooms playing games.

I would honestly buy this game for 80 dollars. It's worth it in my opinion. I wanna buy it for 80 because it will make me feel rich. That will prove to SW who really is the rich kids in town.

Once you bought a certain number of calculators for $80 you can calculate just how many calculators you bought.

You all laugh, but I am often in a position where I'm in a fancy restaurant, I get the bill, and I can't do 20% tip in my head. So I fumble my Switch out of my fanny pack - only to remember it can't help me.

I'm doing the math right now. I would have 1-2...3, 4-5-6...16 calculators all bought for 80 dollars... 16 times 80 would equal...calculating...calculating...one-thousand two-hundred eighty dollars spent on 16 calculators... but wait, I'm starting to catch on something strange in my math, a pattern.

16th letter in the alphabet is P. Now if I bought 3 more calculators when I get my next stimulus check, I would have a total of 19 calculators which would be a grand total of 1,520 dollars total...now if I divided that amount by the approximate price of a Nintendo Switch: 1520 ÷ 304, that would equal the number 5.

I just looked up on Google what is the 19th letter in the alphabet and I learned that the letter is S...

Holy shit guys. I think I just cracked the code. If I put the P and the S and the 5 together...my math is telling me if I wanna be rich, I gotta buy a PS5.

You're better off buying the physical scientific calculator from WHSmiths for £10.

Awesome! This is perfect to calculate that Nintendo Tax. I only wished that they charged more for it so I could feel like a big baller when I buy it.

@techhog89: yes these guys know that Nintendo has nothing to do with it. This is a third-party developer that's releasing this application. But because this is a console war they will attack Nintendo no matter what even if it has nothing to do with Nintendo. And I guarantee you it is coming from the Sony fans because the Microsoft fans don't really worry about attacking Nintendo since everyone knows that Microsoft and Nintendo is somewhat friends. So the Sony fans are trying to clown Nintendo here but it's only going to backfire because this is not a seriously negative situation. Bottom line is the switch is getting some app that is much needed. It'll be nice if they can have an alarm application as well in the future. Basically any apps that can replicate smartphone devices would be welcomed.
