Another year, another Christmas. Steam game prices go higher, Steam sales always go lower. A cynical loop of corporate greed clinically eroding value for it's own unsated greed.

Have you bought any garbage this year?

I'm buying these games:

  • RoboCop
  • Immortals of Aveum (for the graphics ok)
  • Resident Evil 4 (117 hours on PS5 and 9 playthroughs but you best believe I want naughty mods)
  • Kena Bridge of Spirits

I'm wasting so much money buying games I already have on PS5 lol.

Cant wait for the day where you purchase on one platform and can use anywhere.

Everything on my wishlist is on sale and right now nothing is jumping at me for what I'm willing to pay. I noticed, "It Takes Two" is 9.99 and I feel like that game would be unique, but likely would want someone to play through it with. Lol. Not sure how match making works online in that game.

I'd buy Death Stranding at 15$. I'm waiting it out like an old western standoff.

@TheEroica:

Death Stranding is free on both Epic Games Store and is on GamePass.

I bought it full price on day 1 on PS4, day 1 on PS5 (with the upgrade) and still played it on GP. So worth it.

That's exactly how I'm feeling right now.

The sales on my end are good and all, but there's really nothing I want to play right away, I'm mostly replaying the games I've played this year for the most part.

I'm thinking about purchasing Immortals of Aveum as it's only $23 is a fair price. Not gonna buy it on Steam, will buy it on EA store since that's a licensed game by EA.

Man I splurged a bit there.

I got:

  • God of war
  • Sackboy: A big adventure
  • Immortals: Fenyx Rising
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • Thronebreaker

That should tide me over for a while. Well that and my comically large backlog :P.

RE4 too expensive, the PS5 shooter with the unattractive woman too expensive, Dark Souls IV too expensive, Hi Fi Rush too expensive, Nier original too expensive, Kena not sure. Probably nothing again.

Just came down to what I wanted to top up on Rogue Trader so I feel like I got my budget's worth. Initially wanted to go big; Hogwarts Legacy, Jedi Survivor, Mount & Blade II, etc. But then I remembered that I'm planning a fourth HZD play-through before HFW lands, and also had Cyberpunk scheduled right after Rogue Trader, and I just didn't want to risk having to squeeze another 40+ hour open world behemoth in between all of that.

So I settled for some light and snacky indies alongside a couple of Stellaris DLCs instead. So yeah, I bought Rogue Trader, Cassette Beasts, En Garde!, and two Stellaris DLCs, and that's it.

Picked up Half-Life Alyx for $20.

My boss bought a few Quest 3 headsets for work so I took one home. I got it set up with Steam Link. Honestly surprised how well it works via streaming. No tether, moved the furniture to the sides of the living room to give myself a decent space to walk around in. It's pretty sureal. This is my first VR experience. I really want foot tracking so I can kick things.

Nah, not much I really see now.

Bought "Tavern Keeper" because it looks kind of fun and is dirt cheap, and totally impulse bought Telltale's "The Expanse".

But otherwise, no, not really seeing any major titles I feel compelled to by.

Though for some reason I'm really tempted to buy Forspoken. I mean, sure...for $70 it might be a ripoff. But is it still bad for $28? Thoughts?

Won't regret Forsaken. One of the best 360 degree games ever made. I played the fan modded (X Project) around this time 9 years ago which supports HD resolution. Honestly, I don't why they call it just a "Descent clone" while it is like Descent but in many ways it's so much better. I think the controls the environments and the flashy graphics overall make it a better game.

Too bad Probe Entertainment went bust 20+ years ago and they no longer make many good 360 degree games.

My favourite game in the franchise with this new day/night heat/rep system is actually unbound. It's quite tense having to decide doing more races and risk it all, or be on the safe side and bank what little cash you have earned already. Cool system if you ask me.

WTF, Powerslave have no Quick save.

Saying that at least it's not like these modern games where it's auto-quick-save popping up every 4 minutes to prevent any semblance of challenge.

Unfortunately nope. I bought most of the games I wanted from epic instead and I bought around 5 games. I'm still considering buying another 2 or 3 games. Steam isn't competitive, and egs is saving me money.

Might be good, but for what they're asking? When there is already so much other entertainment to discover and revisit? Eh. The decline and stagnation of games is real. It's right to be more jaded and picky than one used to be. I actually spend a lot of money on devices, components and entertainment. Just got the 85 dollar Columbo 1970s Blu-ray set, a show I've never watched before. But modern games are too risky. High chance that I won't finish or will go through the motions.

Oh, Soulstice is another one on the wishlist. A Devil May Cry ripoff. But, again, too much.

I don't know how you can do Christmas every year. Stopped giving a shit when I was like thirteen. Definitely partly because we were poor. But how can you stand the same bad songs -- and almost all Christmas music is terrible -- and giving hysteria only twelve months later? Becomes so repetitive as you grow older. It's funny seeing people complain about the gifts for their friends and families getting more expensive, the way they ritualize this consumerism. If it was once every three years, maybe. I mostly don't even watch the movies I love or play the games I love that often.

So far, I have picked up:

  • Shank & Shank 2
  • Immortal of Avenum
  • Pizza Tower
  • Scarlet Maiden

That's about it. I'm surprised Immortal of Avenum is dirt cheap, no way I'm gonna pass that up. That's all I'm buying for the remainder of Steam Winter sales.

Wasted my money on Elden Ring. The time when I loved FromSoftware's games is over. If you go back far enough in my post history of my different accounts, you will find so much praise and enthusiasm. Now what they think is challenge is going against what is intuitive, punishing you for dodging when you think you're supposed to. Becomes too much about twitch reflexes, which isn't what drew me to their games. At least I will always have the first three Souls.

Friend gifted me Zombie Arm 4 (sniper spinoff), played 3rd one with Howmakewood about 6 years ago before he died. Aside from some jank and Rebellion being shamelessly greedy bastards with their free2pay weapon spam pretty fun COOP game, so looking forward to this one.
