nothing special about my pc except for the 900 mb/s download speeds I get.
That's not your PC, that's your internet. :P

I dunno. I know PS3 has a 1gbit connect in it. 360 doesnt. Do the new systems? :D
And yea ok? PC has options? wheres the 900p monitors :P
I don't see how useful these are, TBH. For starters, I have a decent gaming desktop - but I also have two toaster laptops on Steam. This means my household is dragging the PC hardware quality rating DOWN, but it's illusory - I don't use the laptops on Steam except to buy things for my nice desktop or for the occasional indie or retro game title.
I can't imagine I am alone in this type of situation.

I think almost every single network port on any computer system or motherboard released today is a 1 gigabit connection speed.
The only things that aren't are basically cheap switches or cat 5 cables.
I haven't been part of the survey since 2011. I've updated GPUs 3 times, CPUs twice, RAM 3 times since then. The only constant has been the 1440p monitor.
so 60 percent of the steam users dont have a gaming PC?
because look at the DX11 GPU the top GPUs are intel integrated GPU's..... the people that actually pay extra money for actual graphics cards are the minority.
where are you getting 60% from?

73.7% of people are using DX12 graphic cards though.

ok...i think i misinterpreted..... so 55% of the DX11 cards are integrated cards....but dx11 cards only account for 11.13 percent of all people surveyed.
that is impressive....that dx12 has taken over like it has.
Really shows the difference between this forum and GAF when you look at the stupid first post here versus the discussion there.
Anyway, interesting the 1060 became the new go to card. It's basically the sweet spot for 1080p gaming at this point, plus 1070s are hitting ridiculous markups thanks to AMD out of all people lol.
Hype to be part of the lowest percentage 3440 x 1440 masterrace
I have a feeling that my gtx1050 and fx 6300 are going to last me all this gen.
that kind of depends on the settings and games you want to play
1080p medium, or 720p high, or even 720p medium. My TV isn't big really enough to tell much of a difference between 720 and 1080. I am also fine with 30fps, mostly.
That means that XB1X will be more powerful than the majority of PC's on Steam
So is the PS4 Pro
So basically Most Steam Gamers own a 1060 or weaker GPU. That means that XB1X will be more powerful than the majority of PC's on Steam until they do a new survey and the 1070 or 1080 is more popular.
Until they survey everyone, remove old machines that are connected for people that own a powerful machine, suddenly charge everyone who owns old machines the cost of the new shitbox and remove all PC features from all of them.
Also other factors such demographics in countries where access to high powered hardware is restricted by income and other factors.
It's another pathetic attempt to try and make consoles look superior that has never worked.

Who's trying to make consoles look superior?
LOL. PC's will always be a moving target.
The fact is that the majority of gamers don't have Hi end GPU's. That's a fact. Another fact is PC gamers will always have access to Superior HW.
lol THHBO
Almost none of that hardware matches even the base Xbox One, never mind the engineering genius of the only professional console on the market the PS4 Pro.
PC gamers = laptops with 720p screens.

What is there to discuss? Some charts that show a tiny cross section of a user base. The TC could at least have given some indication of the conversation he wanted to have.
This is System Wars though and this thread will inevitably fill with console gamers saying most PC's are weaker than consoles.
Okay...what are we supposed to discuss here? Most PC gamers still game on legacy hardware? How is that different from most console gamers? Pointless thread is pointless.

GTX 1060 can run games in 4K. For racing titles, that would High settings and near 60 fps, for larger world games such as Witcher 3, probably Med with 30 fps average. Frostbite being a particularly well optimized engine allows for good settings at 4K. Oh and this is all with genuine native 4K, not checkerboard or any other upscaling.
In fact here's an example of Battlefield 1 with a GTX 1060. On Ultra settings 4K, that's right all the way to ULTRA and we're still getting 35-40 fps. While on Low the game got into 80 fps and very rarely dropping below 60. On this performance range, all you'd have to do is play on High settings to get a 60 fps average. Even I'm surprised at how capable the GTX 1060 really is, as I'm sure the RX 580 would be very comparable. But like I said, it will vary from game to game depending on engine and overall extensiveness of game design (open world vs linear closed in environments).
Thing about the X1X; first I'm highly doubtful the graphics processor is equivalent to a GTX 1070, that's just a speculative proposition that's been going around the internet. And even IF it was, the CPU is going to be a major bottleneck. The example here, in fact all benchmarks you could search on Youtube show a GTX 1060 (or 1070 if you wanted to compare) paired with a dedicated CPU. Don't forget that for all the upgrades in the X1X it's still run by an APU. Sure there's a GPU and CPU segment to it, but these are never the same as fully dedicated CPU chips and video cards. That's how the all-in-one processing unit is a cost saver. And there is no way the CPU segment of this APU is anywhere equivalent to an i5 or Ryzen 5 processor, let alone an i7. Which is why we'll expect to see more games being upscaled/checkerboard instead of native 4K, and to see most games capped to 30 fps.

The hardware and software being used the most on Steam. Use your imagination bro, the Teletubbies did it.
Pfft, I don't even care what other people have. As long as I'm getting silky 60fps is all that matters.
@kmp: No it's not not, it's a cross section of polled users. What you're saying is that 8 out of 10 cats tested like it so 80% of all cats must like it. A premise that is such a fallacy that they even made it in to a comedy panel show in the UK.
Of course if you use your imagination it can be anything you want it to be. I guess that's what the Tellytubbies taught you anyway.
