Initial Reaction: Outrage.

so sweet, i love you blizzard. didn't think they would care so much about the campaign but they clearly do.
awesome! i'll buy a few from each...
seriously now, they must be worth their price. blizzard wouldnt do something that stupid.
I need some clarification. Will this cost me 150 dollars? agentfred
Blizzard games are worth well more than $50 of value anyways. You do realize that they are doing this because the single player is huge, right? It's not like the original SC campaigns, these are big enough to be stand alone games.
Initial reaction: illegal actions might be taken.
So if i buy one of this game, can i play online with any faction or just with the race for that specific game?Krigon
Yeah thats what I'm wondering. Do you get the full online experience just from one or do you need all 3 to experience all the MP? Cause if you can get all the online just from one I can see a lot of people just buying the first one and pirating the second two.
[QUOTE="agentfred"]I need some clarification. Will this cost me 150 dollars? Zero5000X
They haven't released pricing but I'm guessing they won't be $50 a piece. I'd guess $30-$40 a piece since theres 3 of them.
40$ is a regular price for a pc game.
Imagine if they would do this to Diablo 3. Each class is treated as a full-fleshed out game, with each title ending the same way.
I'll save my outrage until I hear more about the length of each Campaign as well as the pricing for each camapign.
Either way, Guess I'm starting off with the Protoss ^,^

Stop playing the devils advocate, when you don't have all the facts. You are just speculating.
edit: what might be huge for you, might be considered small for others.
So if each game comes with a 6 hour campaign will you gladly pay 40$?
or do you want 50 hours per game?
In the end Star Craft main appeal is the online mode so the question is will i be restricted to one class if i buy one game? One would think some journalist at the show would bother ask that question.

Alright, I guess that isn't so egregious. Further, a bundle of all three should be considerably cheaper, because you're only buying the MP once. I'm hoping for a 60-70 dollar price tag.
Still, thats a bit much. It seems like Blizzard has developed a craving for cash.
Wow. That's just pathetic. I doubt they needed to release it as three different freaking games. How are people going to go on Bnet if each game brings different assets?FrozenLiquid
Well I'm guessing each version of the game will ship with all the MP assets. It's just the other campaigns that'll be missing

You're right, because Blizzard is so shady:roll:
I'd buy SC2 for much higher prices than $50. These games last 10 years.

Zero5000X
the Terran one comes out first, then the Zerg, the the Protoss.
Damn. I was hoping we wouldn't have to play them in a specific order. Oh well. Terran's a good place to start too.
EDIT: Oh and when I say specific order, I mean not have to wait for the release of the others. Was kind of hoping they would all release at once
But if I buy 1 I get to play them all in multiplayer right? I could care less about the campaign really.
I'm only going to buy the first one, and then never worry about the campaign, because quite frankly I dont care that much about the campaign, its all about map making and multiplayer games.

diped
of course
Its all from the Blizcast audio pane.
"The multiplayer game will be released (probably with the Terran campaign, I don't know) and then the Zerg and Protoss campaigns will be massively extended and huge... As separate games."
Cali3350
Cool. Thanks for the clarification on that one. I thought that would be how it worked

So basically people will just buy the Terran campaign cause its the one with the multiplayer and then just pirate the Zerg and Protoss.
*sigh* internet gaming stupidity strikes again.
My guess:

If people want to break the law, that's their prerogative.
I guess the upside of this is that if you're only looking for MP, it'll probably be cheaper than otherwise.agentfred
I don't understand how they are thinking.
So you will learn the ins and outs of the terrans during the campaign, meanwhile the people that want to play Zerg/protoss have to go online and learn that way.
[QUOTE="mdisen2"]they released pricing info already?*sigh* internet gaming stupidity strikes again.
My guess:
No, it will not cost $150. And even if it did, it's called supply and demand. They have a right to charge whatever people are willing to pay for it.
- $50 for Starcraft 2. You get one campaign, full custom games and multiplayer modes.
- $20 for second campaign.
- $20 for third campaign.
omarguy01
No, but that makes sense. It costing $150 makes no sense.

They are talking about campaigns people. You will still be able to play zerg and protoss custom games/multiplayer.

You could always just have skirmishes with the AI to get reacquainted with the other two races

very easy to understand. When you put so much work into a game that it's value becomes greater than that of 3 seperate games, why not split it up?
why do you think it takes so long for blizzard to make games?

You'd think people would get right off that there is more content here than a $50 game is worth.

Half the people responding probably don't even play Blizzard games. Every game Blizzard makes is a favor to its audience, and I can't believe some people complain when they find out it will cost money.
