Poll STALKER vs Crysis. Which old PC FPS was better? (40 votes)

STALKER 40%
Crysis 60%

Hello friends,

In this thread we compare 2 of important PC FPS of last decade and found out which was better.

STALKER

No Caption Provided

Crysis

No Caption Provided

Both were semi sandbox games that released in the year 2007. imo Crysis definitely had better graphics obviously but only in this department Crysis is superior, in each and every department STALKER own it, either it comes to gameplay, or world building, or exploration, longevity etc.

STALKER had big inventory system and also have RPG elements which didnot ruined the game unlike todays RPG element ruined it. unlike Crysis which is cinematic, have pointless on rail segments, regen health etc so STALKER feel more like true PC FPS instead.

not bashing Crysis because I like Crysis alot. if Crysis is 9/10. STALKER is 10/10 or even 11/10 imo.

so friends, which was better of 2? lets discuss

STALKER had a cool idea but the execution was a letdown, way too buggy to work as intended. While Crysis also had the whole AI dying glitch it worked as intended most of the time, and also the improvement of the concept of that console Farcry game with super powers is really good. So I voted Crysis.

Crysis was technically and mechanically a much more well-made game. STALKER is/was janky as hell despite it being a great, unique experience.

it depend. it might be well made due to its EA's budget and its presentation. but it was also most casual PC FPS game imo. it was Halo of PC gaming. there has never been PC exclusive FPS that has regen health.

both are great, but Stalker wins for me due to the great atmosphere, and Crysis suffers a bit in the later levels with the aliens

This thread doesn't make any sense, the comparison should be Stalker to Metro and Far Cry to Crysis...

Shadow of Chernobyl. Were the whole of Crysis 1 a lot like its first half, then it be closer, but the 2nd half of that game isn't as good. On the flip side the ballistics in Stalker are actually fun to learn how bullets drop and what ranges you can take goons out at, the enemy AI is really good on higher difficulties, and the survival elements keep you honest.

What Stalker lacks in polish, it more than makes up for in depth n ambition. Not that Crysis is a slouch, it's highs are more thrilling since mechanically Crysis is a deeper game. They just become less of a factor by the end of the game. Now Shadow of Chernobyl vs Crysis Warhead is a more interesting convo.

If EFBB remains Xbox exclusive. it would have been system seller instead of Halo.

it was masterpiece of game. and also make you feel like badass.

Second Half of first Far cry also sucked. its like Crytek repeat same mistake twice.

what i also didnot liked that there was no blood/gore in Crysis. i mean why? every FPS back then and still now have blood/gore.

With mods, STALKER, without mods Crysis. I voted Crysis due to not needing mods to feel like a completed game.

Stalker was good, but broken at release. Mods and patches helped, but it was a hell of a game.

Crysis is a different beast. It's forward-minded, although, that's a bit of an overstatement because the devs thought that PCs would have 5+GHz core clocks by then.(It is now, but whatever.)

I'd say Crysis redefined graphics, but Stalker did soon become Metro, so win-win for both, I guess.

Crysis. I thought the gameplay was fantastic and the graphics were just... "Can you run Crysis?"

Stalker was boring for me. Pretty overrated by the internet, pretty much gave it a 6/10.

Crysis was a good tech demo while Stalker was a how not to make a game demo, so I guess Crysis wins.

Sure, Crysis was a technically better made game. But really, after playing it through once I never really looked at it again, as was the case with many well-made shooters. Stalker on the other hand, I still play 13 years later and I still consider it in my top 10.

I prefer Crysis in all but atmosphere; STALKER had the better game world, environment, factions, and so forth.

Crysis has it beat on gameplay, audio, visuals, and all that stuff.

its required tons of attention because STALKER is not easy game. you guns cannot hit enemy very easily. beside used mods and patches and it become masterpiece.

Crysis on other hand is baby's first PC FPS game. its Halo equivalent of PC gaming.

I’m hard-pressed to even qualify STALKER as an FPS, much less analogous to Crysis.

The former necessitates economic and logistical considerations to survive, procurement throughout overall progress up until the end, ammo management, gear upkeep, statuses, etc whereas Crysis kicks you out the door with pretty much what you’ll need to place the focus more on tactics and action from moment to moment.

As an FPS, yeah, Crysis.

That's like saying mexico and usa are the same because they are in the same continent.

nothing really to do with the EU that is referred to with europe nowadays.

crytek is german. that is europe. So is ubisoft.

What you see in stalker, takes places outside the eu, in tsernobyl, ukraine, on the border with belarus, both a part of the old ussr.

Stalker is russian/ukranian oriented. It's also based on a russian novel.

I'd give the edge to Stalker because of the incredible world and atmosphere. It was just so interesting to explore looking for artifacts off the the beaten path dealing with anomalies and monsters. Felt more like survival horror FPS at times

I struggle to remember the second half of Crysis. The opening few levels of Crysis were awesome I used to replay that opening level a lot (usually shooting trees and enjoying the physics or throwing soldiers at shit lol) Same with Far Cry also loved the first few opening levels. Both were mind blowing visually at the time.

crysis is by far the better pure fps. stalker is more of a hybrid shooter, immersive sim, survival horror.

i'm not sure why regen health makes crysis less of a pc game and therefore why picking up health packs or eating food to magically heal any injury makes it a "true pc fps"
