  • Sony will only refund $150 of the $600 that was taken.
  • The money will be in PSN credit, and not refunded into the bank.
  • If the user escalates the payment dispute with his bank, his account will be banned.
  • If his account is banned, his purchased licences for games, such as The Last of Us Remastered, will be wiped.
  • If the licences are wiped, there is no way of restoring them.

The user's PlayStation 4 cannot be designated as the primary console for another 6 months, meaning it is locked out of the account until then.

I can't believe people defend how shitty and anti-consumerist this is yet bitch about the parity clause MS has that doesn't effect people outside of missing out on some indie games.

Seriously if this ever happened to me, I'd sell my PS4 and never buy another sony product.

His password was stolen and someone cashed in. Aren't you suppose to contest to the credit card company? Any time fraudulent charges, you are suppose to contact your card company.

a lot of services will blacklist you (or at least threaten to) for a chargeback. It's to protect themselves against fraud, and consequences from the credit card company.

I know people who got a refund for digital content by contacting Xbox customer support so you would think Sony customer support would be as good. There were some instances where they got credit back and kept the digital content. I guess I could understand if Sony doesn't refund him but when your credit card was comprised and you try to work it out through your credit card company, Sony will ban you? What?! Knowing Sony and their history with getting hacked, I wouldn't be surprised if they updated their Terms of Services so they could protect their asses instead of their consumers.

And I remember recently Sony sent some settlement emails where you could choose a couple of games, themes and subscriptions free because of the hacks. Anyone who signed up for that get anything yet? I'm still waiting for any updates. Hopefully people didn't give their info just to get hacked again and easier.

Also the loss of money here also heavily depends on whether its Sony's fault or the user's as to why he was hacked. If it was his own (from divulging username/passwords or some other reason) Sony shouldn't have to pay anything.

MSoft has refunded me on some digital purchases hope Soony does the same.

The difference is Soony only has pennies in the bank so they will try and keep every one.

Would they make Sony look bad? If either of them suddenly turn coat and help the kid out, it'll so obviously look like a PR response. The only real response from Sony is if they change their policies as well.

Plus the cows would so obviously call MS desperate lol. According to them everything MS do is desperate.

Just goes to show. ALWAYS go to your credit card first. Not saying Sony is right, but never hand your balls to a company that will have its own loopholes. His creditor should be having this dispute with Sony, and they sure as hell can afford the attorneys to recover fraudulent monies owed.

ALWAYS ALWAYS pit companies against each other whenever humanly possible. Never be an individual versus a corporation.

There doesn't appear to be any evidence to suggest that this account hack has anything to do with Sony's lack of PSN security and that this isn't just some idiot that was careless with his email and password information. In which case why exactly should Sony refund the full amount for something that isn't their fault?
