Sony will have the top 3 best selling consoles of all time, Nintendo - handhelds... Microsoft? Lol

So, with the recent news that the PS4 is closing in on 90 million units, within the next 2 years it will surpass both the Wii and the PS1. Amazing achievement.

Nintendo are the gods of handhelds, so not much talking about it.

But what has M$ achieved? Second and third place throughout their whole existence? To be honest they are nothing but an ugly green spot in the gaming industry. Like a big green snot.

I personally don't have a problem with it. Last time we had an American company in the lead we had a videogame industry crash, and Microsoft's tactics at the start of this gen have shown me that they are dangerous when they think they are in the lead (TV box, Online DRM, No used games, etc.).

What will happen one day when the handheld industry becomes irrelevant due to smartphones leaving only smartphones and consoles in the gaming market. Will the Japanese dominate smartphones as they are now with consoles? With Apple and South Korean Samsung dominating the smartphone market, will the Japanese try to penetrate the market?

Tough to predict, these Japanese companies will try anything if they are desperate enough but I don't think they can wrestle the smartphone market away from Samsung and Apple. Apple and Samsung's grip is just too strong even for Sony and Nintendo.

A console that can’t play Halo or Forza is a waste of time and money imo.
