Sony: Resistance 2 is About A 50Gig Game - GTTV Extended Cuts

Scott Steinberg and Evan Wells give Geoff the skinny behind Blu-Ray, the future format of Gears of War 2 and how Sony will secure the console war in 2008. He also makes an interesting commenting regarding Resistance 2:

"It's about a 50Gig game too [...] Only on Bluray"

for such a short game, 25 gigs is WAY too much. when you can fit Oblivion on a DVD9, there's no way that uncharted would take 25 gigs without the devs being lazy and having uncompressed audio or something along those lines

I'd love to see Insomniac take the gloves off and do Resistance 2 right. I wasn't impressed with Resistance, but I think it was because it was rushed to launch. I'll give them another fair shot.

Dude, Resistance 2 will seriously be the best overall console shooter, ever. Not that that's saying much.

The dev said in the video they squeezed it in to 25 because they didn't want to use a dual layered disc for their first game. And yaeh they said Resistance 2 is about a 50 gig game

Do you have a better more professioal explanation as to how a 10 hour game takes up 25 gigs, when a 20 hour game takes up 9?

It's funny that they would think that... as DMC4 was 9 or less gigs and had a 5 gig install... kind of makes you think it has nothing to do with the size of the game.

Maybe, it's probably not the engine and code that are taking up all this space, and i doubt that that is what is being installed, it's probably textures and other things that need to be loaded quickly.

This is the main reason why i'm getting a PS3, because of this game, 60 player battles, 8 player campaign is just awesomeHalochief_101

Resistance used 25gigs and it didn't beat Gears that only used 8gigs. More gigs doesn't mean a better game per say. ;)

I know it's all about the game, but resistance 1 was awesome and it was fun playing 40 player battles, but 60 is alot to me lol
