PlayStation has made a small but important change, in that PC games are now published under PlayStation PC LLC. Previously they were listed under PlayStation Mobile, but as Sony puts more into mobile, it’s important to distinguish them.

The change was spotted by user Bernd Lauert on NeoGAF, who spotted the difference on the store page for Days Gone on Steam. What’s also interesting to note is that this is actually a return to a previously used publishing title, as Steam has other games like Everybody’s Gone To Rapture listed under it as well.

Those who think Sony will continue to drip-feed PC gamers with years old ports are in for a rude awakening. Once the backlog has dried up, current-gen games will see a PC release within 2 years.

I really don't want to transform into a yet another boring hermit, but if everything comes out on pc day one or within 3 months, i will have to. I don't want to leave me expert cow career, tho.

No shame in changing careers.

I don't think a name change says much on its own about Sony's long term strategy, though it does suggest they are in this for the long haul.

Does it matter, it's Sony, and it's clear they're moving further into releasing their games on PC, though right now it mostly appears to be a lot of playing catch-up there.

What will be big news though IMO is if they ever move to facilitate cross-platform ownership like UWP, i.e. buy it and it's tied to a PSN account and play it on PC or PS consoles, even have cross system progression to say pick up where you left off on the PC when moving to a Ps console and vice versa. We aren't there yet, not even close, though sure they could if they wanted. Bur they're too concerned trying to squeeze out $10 extra per game just to get a 9th gen upgrade.

Day One releases are inevitable..

let's face it, not every game is going to be 9/10+ offerings like Uncharted 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, or God of War that'll sell tons of copies years later.. games like Death Stranding and Day's Gone would have benefitted on PC if they were released during the launch day hype train..

there's too much money potentially on the table to be gambling on 2+ year later releases..
