Sony Confirms The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding, and Ghost of Tsushima Are Still PS4 Games

According to Sony, all three games are still slated to hit the PS4. This doesn't mean they won't also release on the PS5, just that they won't be skipping PlayStation's current console.

I'm more surprise some thought those games will be coming to PS5, Sony straight up stated those games will be only for PS4 cause they are build around it. Same goes for Cyberpunk 2077, that game is made for current-gen.

I don't see why they didn't wait for the PS5 for last of us 2... could of been a good launch title.

They're going to be cross gen games. They will sell the PS5 when it comes out.

The PS4's install base is pretty large. Making it a PS5 launch title will limit sales. The game most likely has an insane budget so it makes sense to launch it on PS4 then have it be a cross gen title when the PS5 launches.

Will be a test for backwards compatibility. Hopefully the games will upgrade automatically when you get the Ps5. Otherwise I rather wait.

Sure, but The Last of Us 2 Remastered will be on the PS5 a year later (just like the first game).

I can't find anything the explicitly states this but the interview take away indicates full BC with the PS4.

Depending on the PS5 release date, I might just hold off until then. No doubt these are gonna be cross-gen, or at the very least, BC.

If PS5 is backwards compatible, then they are still PS5 games, even if they only release them in PS4 form, yet, I imagine even then they'll still be digital store of PS5.

Well it has been confirmed the PSVR is BC. So it wouldn't make much sense to have it BC and not games.

It would make sense for them to release them as PS4 titles with a label saying PS5 compatible, in fact it would make sense for them to release all titles like that, perhaps they should even start writing these cross gen titles in a way that nothing is emulated and have optimised versions for both on the same disc like you have with PC games across a range of CPU and GPU and RAM combinations, the signed executable does not need changing in theory as it's the same architecture.

Mark Cerny of Sony confirmed it weeks ago. It was part of the PS5 reveal announcement, it's not a rumor anymore it is official.

It's been confirmed to have BC with PS4 games and it will also support cross gen multiplayer with PS4.

Most likely. This means all versions will look like the PS4 version but load faster than normal. Coolyfett will get the PS4 versions.
