Assuming you already own a PS4, that is. I'd say $600, like Oculus, is too much. Around $300 seems right to me. Oh, and try your hardest not to bring any of your fanboy crap in here. Thanks.

@charizard1605: To be fair, if the thing got some solid horror games I'd probably be swayed to drop 400 on it. No more though.
Nothing, same goes for Oculus or any kind of VR that is what it is today.
I find hololens more interesting and potentially useful.
I think $499 would be my max. I have Oculus preordered and I am not expecting PSVR to be as good. So I don't think I can justify spending as much on PSVR as I will on Oculus. I also hope they have different skus because I already have the PS camera and 2 move controllers.
I'm very interested in VR, but it is unlikely that I would buy Playstation VR since I don't believe the PS4 is powerful enough to deliver a good virtual reality experience, Sony has a history of not supporting their peripheral devices very well, and VR's full potential cannot be reached on a closed platform like the PS4. Therefore I'm planning to get either the Oculus Rift or the Vive instead, so I can get a good virtual reality experience.
And I think people that are expecting Playstation VR to cost around $300 yet still somehow deliver quality are not being very realistic and are going to be in for a huge disappointment. The Oculus Rift cost $600 and it does not even need the external processing box that Playstation VR is going to need which will add to it's cost, plus they have Facebook behind them so they can afford to play the long game and initially sell the Oculus Rift at a loss whereas Sony is not doing so well financially so I don't think they can afford to sell at a loss. So if Playstation VR did end up costing around $300, it would have to be such a compromised VR experience that nobody would even want to use it and it would do more harm to people's perception of VR than good.
Ideal would be $299. Upper limit would be $399.
Given Oculus's high price, I may be willing to go PSVR this gen and then just switch over to Oculus once the price comes down and they've released CV2/3.
I could see $400. Isnt the camera required? If you have to have the camera, I think it will be $400 with the camera bundle with it. And I dont see them selling it without the camera if its required. Thought also would be a big screw you to the people who have already bought the camera. Im not too sure how many people have bought the ps4 camera, but I dont think its many, so to avoid confusion they wont sell it without it.
If it is $400, I could actual see them having a $600 bundle that would be an incredible value to newcomers. The whole package cost the same as oculus and sony might be holding.
I'll wait for peoples feedback and reviews before getting one
This, so $0 for now. I'm not sold on getting into anything VR yet.
That really depends on the game Sony has to offer when it comes to take full VR advantage but however, there is one game that got me interested and that's RIGS Mechanized Combat League looks totally fun and I'll say I will pay $300 for PS VR, at least. $400? I'll think about it but other then that, it's going to take me 2 games other then RIGS, to make me pay $400.
Ill eventually get one vr system. Ill have to see which has the best software. Id lean towards the rift but id like to wait until version2.
For psvr if they hit 299 i think id jump on it early. But im guessing its more like 399. I also want real meaty games and not jist short demo like experiences. Cant wait to see what they come up with.
@Boddicker: Well, the extra processor better make a difference, or else you're going to have people puking all over the place. When it comes to VR gaming, frame-rate is really important in terms of a person's wellbeing. That's why Sony is shooting for 90+ fps on all games. Hence the extra juice.
I can't see casual people investing 300+ on VR, especially since its unproven.
I have friends, friends of friends, I've met random people IRL (retail job) who buying a PS4 was a huge decision due to the cost, since a lot of people my age have Bills, Student Loans, ect.
ask em to spend an extra 300? yeah right.
@reduc_ab_: There is no extra processor doing any sort of 3D rendering. And yes, frame rate is king in VR, which is why I'm going PC not with a console that's going to have the same hardware for another half a decade+.
In terms of likely pricing I'd say $350 to $450 is likely to be the ballpark. I don't know that Sony is willing to subsidize the hardware, and while it's likely to be a bit cheaper than something like Oculus (only one screen vs 2, optics and positioning that not quite as good as the Oculus) - The optics are still going to cost lots of money, as will the PSVR's great screen (full RGB) even though it's lower rez.
Though I'm certainly going PC for VR, it's very likely that I won't be jumping in this year. I'll wait for the new GPU cards to be available and maybe even on sale - and I need to see what kind of games are supported by Vive as well.
Depends what comes with it
I'm sure they will throw in things to try and justify the high cost like OR did. A controller, a game or two, and suddenly it's $150 add one
Just for the VR device, I'd pay $350, at max. I would have paid $450 for OR but $600 a bit high. To buy it now, I'll have to wait to see if reviews really are that good

Actually the add-ons were very cheap. Palmer Lucky said they don't add much to the overall cost. Gamepads are huge margin items for console manufacturers. They certainly don't cost the $50/$60 best buy charges you, and bundling them at direct from manufacturer prices (probably at bulk prices even) just won't add much to the overall cost, even less if it's Sony bundling Sony peripherals, probably a few bucks tops.
I tried the Morpheus prototype at EGX and it seemed as good as the Oculus DK2. I was sceptical of weather it was indeed running on a PS4 though as the wires from the headset mysteriously led down the back of a conveniently placed, desktop PC sized cabinet and not directly into the PS4 which was sitting on top of it.
I have no interest in PSVR myself as I have a Rift pre-ordered. I am interested to see how it fares and though I hope it does well for VR sake, I dont think it will. If it was the only VR available to me then £300 is the most I would pay for it as I expect it to be a limited experience when compared to PC VR that would not fulfil all of my reasons for owning one that is more expensive.
Nothing. I would have to be given it for free, plus any games to play with it. Zero interest and certainly not spending any money on it or Rift.
I'm with Heil.
I ain't interested in this shit no matter who does it.
200$ down the line and that's with a lot of compelling games/killer app to go with it released already to justify the price.

Agreed. Hell even if I bought one I would rarely use it at all as it would be collecting dust.
