So what games did everyone play in 2018?

Pretty basic question, but I always like to do an end of the year review for myself, and so I'll throw the same question at you guys as well. For single player focused games, this also isn't the same thing as asking whether you finished it or not, so if you believe that you spent a decent amount of time with one, feel free to write it down. Conversely, if you don't think you had given a game enough of a chance, you don't have to mention it. Lastly, this doesn't have to be the first time that you played a game, so replays count.

So for the first half of 2018, I played a shit ton of Yakuza, mostly in preparation for Y6, while the latter half of the year was dominated by Mega Man, and hours wise, by Valkyria Chronicles 4 and RDR2. For next year, I don't see myself playing nearly as much, but if I'm going to focus on a series again, I'd like to finish Persona 3 & 4, which I ended up shelving for newer games.

Man, the entire list of games the OP played aren’t even on my radar of games I’d play lol.

I played a lot of Titanfall 1, Forza Horizon 3 and 4, Halo MCC and 5, Far Cry 5, PUBG, BF1, Trivial Pursuit (great couch party game), The Orange Box, packed away my ps3 and WiiU and hooked up the OG Xbox and played a lot of its library.

2018 was a great gaming year for me!

lol lemmings are so insecure, they can't just make a list but they need to tell the world how they put away other consoles and replaced them for a Xbox to reassure their choice. Only lemming say stuff like this all the time. Pure insecurity...

Oh man I played a whole bunch of stuff, probably more this year than I have since I was a kid. Standout titles for me include: Valkyria Chronicles 4, Pokemon Let's Go, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Attack on Titan 2, Octopath Traveller, Okami HD, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Civilization 6, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Grim Fandango Remastered.

I also had the opportunity to enjoy some Xbox stuff such as Recore, Sunset Overdrive, Dead Rising 3 and Forza Horizon 4 during December for only £1. Unfortunately, turns out I'm almost as bad a driver playing Forza as I am in real life, and swerving around roads in the UK was a bit too realistic!

2018 was also the year that I fell in love with indie games. Having a blast playing through Stardew Valley, Celeste, Into the Breach, Yoku's Island Express, Enter the Gungeon, Kamiko, Battle Chef Brigade, Hollow Knight, Golf Story and The Banner Saga Trilogy.

And now finishing off the year with some classic NES stuff available through the Nintendo Online program. Going to have a go completing Metroid before 2019 starts.

Play it for the story

I only beat about 16 games this year down on last year but it was World Cup year.

If the game play isn't to my liking, then it's difficult for me to play the game for the story.

Yeah, it's pretty great. The grimy sense of realism mixed with the bad-acid-trip surrealism is unmatched as far as most any other game goes, in my opinion. Plus it's just so f_cking dark. There's just nothing quite like it.

Takeaways-
Stardew Valley is my most played game of the year- over 80 hours.
Resident Evil 7 was my favorite game that I played this year. Of course it's a 2017 game but I had never played it before. It's the best RE since 4.
Cuphead is awesome and a game I will replay many times throughout my life. Also one of very few games that my wife liked too lol.
Got to play a fair amount of older games that I hadn't played in a long time and it was fun to return.
Undertale is overrated
KOTOR was ok, probably not fair to judge it in 2018 compared to when it released lol.
I always loved Halo MCC multiplayer, and kept playing it all these years. The update feels good :)

2019 will be a year of experiencing Genesis and SNES games that I never got to play growing up, and replaying some old favorites :) Oh and Smash Ultimate.

Mostly COD WW2 and a little BF1 and BFV. I'm a simple guy.
