This guy got ahold of the emulator Sony uses to play the PS2 classics on the PS3 and he has tested it with multiple games and all of them are playing fine at full speed. Tested games list: edit: the site with the list has instructions on how to install CFW and stuff so I'm not gonna post it.

Now the question is, are Sony lying about the PS4 not able to emulate PS3? Because Sony could release this emulator at any given time is just that they don't want to but you can install it through CFW. I told you Sony was starting to become scummy like M$!

liscensing is also problem

original ps3 didnt emulate, it had ps2 inside of it therefor no legal issues.

Oh just bend over for 'em why dont cha?  In all honesty, I think we should have forward compatibility as well.  Greedy companies making us keep our old consoles AND buy new consoles?  Bullsh*t!  :x

They patented a full Cell based software emulator in like 2008 or something.  

The only reason Sony didnt introduce it into the PS3 (and also why they removed the already available hardware/software BC from the PS3) is because Sony was losing money on every PS3 console sold, while PS2 makes huge profit margins.  

If BC was available, then people would have no need to buy a PS2, and would have just bought PS3's (for a loss), when instead they can make them buy a PS3 (for a loss) AND a PS2 (for a profit).  Keep in mind the PS2 has sold like 6-9 million each year this gen, and was only discontinued a few months ago.

Is there a working emulator for PS3 running on any hardware at all? I haven't heard at least.

As for PS2 emulation, they can obviously add it, especially on PS4.

Though I don't understand why they haven't released more PS2 games on PSN, if that emulator works well.

Of course not, but claiming your console is incapable of BC when it is and releasing expensive HD ports instead is sad.

Why not play them on your pc? As long as you still have the original disc and console itself it is not illegal. I have been playing my PS2 games in HD since my PS2 disc drive died a couple of years ago.

i complement you both on your complete ignorance of programming to different architechtures and the effort it takes to make an hd re release. Releasing a hd port is different than being able of put a game made to run on a ps2, but hey, its not only you here in SW that talks without knowing the first thing of what they are talking about.
