I'll be shocked if Banjo sells even 2 million. It will probably sell far worse than the Banjo games on N64. You forget that VP, a new ip sold pretty well. An established series like Banjo, on a console with high attatch rates can do 2 million with in 6 months. Lemmings and some sheep will buy this game if at 40 as well.
1. Banjo has competition Always had. SM64. Crash Bandicot.
2. I doubt most lemmings who never owned a Nintendo system and have never played a Banjo game will be interested in this game Generalizations FTL
3. RARE has been a disappointment for many lemmings. RARE was never a disappointment during the N64 era. If Kameo, VP and Conker Live and reloaded are disappointments than RARE standards are really high. PDZ is in the middle. I'm not disappointed personally cause I wasn't expecting it to take any time away from me playing Halo 2. but I'm pretty sure there are plenty who loved it on N64 who think that it tainted the series.
1. SM64 was not competition for Banjo Kazooie. Banjo Kazooie released 1 1/2 years after SM64. Most people at that point who wanted SM64 had already bought it. Crash Bandicoot released nearly 2 years before Banjo Kazooie. :| How in the world would Crash Bandicoot be competition during Banjo Kazooie's release? Oh, and Gears of War 2 comes out a mere 11 days after Banjo: Nuts and Bolts. THAT is competition. And the $40 price tag you mentioned....ever think that it is going at that low a price because there are serious doubts that this game would sell at $60? And about Viva Pinata...that game had a lot of hype from lemmings months before the release. I'm not seeing that with Banjo: Nuts and Bolts...
2. I am basing this on a lot of stuff I've read on system wars and IGN forums. I've seen several threads from people having serious doubts about Banjo: Nuts and Bolts. I really haven't seen a whole lot of interest in this game from lemmings. I've seen tons of interest for Gears of War 2 though.
3. There are plenty of lemmings who moaned and groaned after PDZ. Most HATED the game. You'll be hardpressed to find lemmings who loved this game. The game was trashed left and right by lemmings and they thought Kasavin's 9.0 review was by far the worst review ever because it was scored way too high.
1. OK Gears of War is Competition for Banjo NB. Pick the top 10 games of 1998 and that is serious competition for Banjo 1. You can extend the list to 20 or 30 if you wanted because that year was stacked. I'm pretty sure that Banjo is hyped more than VP was. You also have hype coming from sheep as well on this game. Lems pretty much put Banjo 3 on their list before it was even announced.
2. Gears of War 2 is probably the top game on the Lems list. But that doesn't mean other games are not going to sell. The 360 games have high attatch rates. VP competed with Gears and sold well. CoD 4, GH3, RB, Bioshock did well on the 360 competing with Halo 3, which is obviously the most competition you're gonna get from one game on an Xbox console.
3. PDZ fine, I'll put it in the disappointment list with that Ghoulies and VP: Party game. But the three I mentioned were solid titles. I don't see why some one would be disappointed with those three games.. Banjo looks very promising so we'll see if it disappoints or not. But if it does, I don't think the sales will still hurt because it score below 9. Plenty of people buy games regardless or are unaware of the reviews of these games. I still do.
Note: I don't even plan on buying it. Even at $40. I just don't see it not selling well.
