Not sure, rather powerful, as someone else said about twice as powerful as the ipad 2. Raw specs wise it can apparantly push almost as many polygons as the ps3 can, but that wopnt translate into real world performance, especially since it will be on a handheld and clock speeds will be lowewred from stock
It is hard to get real facts at the moment actually. It does have a quad core version of the A9 that the iPad 2 has (the iPad has a dual core version.) The iPad 2's runs at 1Ghz per core, but no clock speeds have been announced for the Vita as far as I can tell. Theoretically, it could be as high as 2Ghz, but battery life would suffer. Power consumption is just as important as processing power in a handheld. I've heard RAM was reduced recently to hit the 250 price mark, but I haven't heard any solid numbers. Everyone is really just speculating at the performance, no one really knows anything at the moment. They released just enough to get good coverage by saying "quad-core" but there haven't been any real performance numbers to go by.

Just to add to that, I think an official in Sony commented on the whole reducing RAM thing with something like: don't believe everything you read. So it may not be true the reduced RAM

I can definitely see that. Depending on RAM prices and when they will be actually producing the units, the specs can change at any time.[QUOTE="_Matt_"][QUOTE="subyman"]

Depending on RAM prices and when they will be actually producing the units, the specs can change at any time.I really hope they don't sacrifice any RAM in favour of a lower cost though, later on in its life, the RAM could be very important in keeping it going. I mean Im no expert but it sems if the PS3 and 360 had a little more RAM each, textures may have been nicer at this stage in the game, and devs could squeeze more outta the systems
Looks amazing, like having a PS3 and an HDTV in my hands

I wouldn't go that far. Maybe like having a 360 in your hands, but the ps3 is a little more powerful.

A bit too powerful maybe.

Not possible. If the price point is good and the battery life is decent, there is no such thing as too poweful.
This. We know the price point is good, and they said battery should be around 5 hours earlier on, which is quite acceptable. OLEDs actually take less battery than normal screens, and the rest is cellphone CPUs and such, nothing that should kill the battery.[QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"][QUOTE="Shirokishi_"]

OLEDs actually take less battery than normal screens, and the rest is cellphone CPUs and such, nothing that should kill the battery. It all balanced out, the OLED reduces comsumption, not having a UMD drive reduces consumption, newer more efficient chips on smaller die reduces consumption so yeah i think it'll be on par with PSP since Vita has more power, more inputs and bigger screen so it should on paper balance out fairly nicely assuming Sony didn't lie when they say it'll be similar to the PSP but even so i won't be taking ine outside much if at all so doesn't bother me having to shut it off for an hour or two when i can continue playing my campaign on PS3 :D[QUOTE="khoofia_pika"][QUOTE="EZs"]And still not better :( oh yeah, it's already better in my book, killzone and uncharted coming to it, 2 analog sticks for fps... 3ds is remaking n64 games, vista, ps3 games... Um, first of all, it's Vita, not Vista. Secondly, the 3DS is getting TWO N64 remakes- OOT and Star Fox. TWO. No more. Other then that, there's just ONE MORE remake- MGS3D. ALL the other games on the 3DS are new games, built from scratch- Mario Kart, Super Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Resident Evil, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Kingdom Hearts, Paper Mario. As for your FPS argument- the 3DS has an analog pad AND a touch screen. Much better than two analog nubs. The DS' FPS controls were already awesome without an analog nub, imagine how much better they'd be WITH one.Way more powerful than 3DS.

Why is there so much 3DS hate in a thread that has nothing to do with it?charizard1605Cows can find no other way to show the (non-existent) superiority of their handheld.

Because Ocarina isn't coming to psv.

No, but like he said, this thread is about graphics/specs, so you are infact going off-topic.
Guys, stop with the PS Vita vs 3DS comparisons please, and let's keep this thread on track.charizard1605
No... now, it's on.
[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Guys, stop with the PS Vita vs 3DS comparisons please, and let's keep this thread on track.JipsetThat's what I'm saying, brah. Comparing libraries isn't gonna do much. 3DS was at e3 both this year and last year, while the Vita was only at this one. Exactly, we, er, don't know anything much about Vita yet. As it stands now, Vita has better specs, 3DS has a better library, but that won't matter, we need more info before we make a comparision. Anyway, looks like both handhelds will be great, so why exactly does every Vita or 3DS thread become a thread to hate on the other handheld?

Preaching to the wrong crowd bro, I'm literally playing my 3DS right now. I was just correcting a mistake. :) The problem I have with the 3DS, other than the only title I own, months after launch, is a 12 year old N64 title, is the lack of 3rd party support so far. Most of the great titles coming out this year are nintendo titles. Lets see: Mario Kart, Super Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Resident Evil, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Kingdom Hearts, Paper Mario Mario Kart, there is Wipeout on PSV. Luigi's Mansion does not look like fun, I don't like any Resident Evil, Kid Icarus looks neat, would get from bargain bin, Animal Crossing and KH are 2 series I can't enjoy anymore, Paper Mario and Super Mario look awesome and I'm totally getting them. Honestly, between the 2 handhelds, Gravity Daze on PSV looks like the most interesting 3rd party title. Uncharted, Hot Shots, and Super Stardust Delta all look neat on top of Wipeout. I don't like Little Big Planet much, but the way it was using all aspects of the PSV looked cool. There may be a lot of haters in this thread, but you don't have to be one of them bro.

My concern is dev cost and develoepemt complexity. If its too hard and expensive to develope for we may not get as many awesome games as pften as the PSP got them.
IMO Sony shouldve held back on the power a bit.

Well actually yeah... Look at the Wii losing all those 3rd party games because it couldn't handle the game engines PS3,XBOX and PC games used. PSV will play console games easy. 3DS wont. Please Log In to post.
