I would assume for any game. I know developers get the first three patches for free. After that, they have to pay $40,000. No wonder why you see XBLA games get the drop in support. Monday Night Combat started up as a 360 game, quickly to be abandoned when the PC version was released. Now the sequel is a PC exclusive.Would that not be incentive for the devs to release a finished product.. :| I'm not saying I support M$/Sony on this one.. but there have been entirely too many games released this gen (on All Platforms) that REQUIRES patching.. Some even day 1. That should be unacceptable to us gamers.[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"][QUOTE="FPSDad1161"] Is that just for retail and XBLA games or indie games as well?OhSnapitz
While I would agree, you do have to take into consider that many smaller developers do not have enough resources to keep beta testing games and working on them for too long. It costs a lot of money to run that.
Also, it is quite impossible to have a public beta testing or have a pre-sell sales. On PC is quite popular nowadays for smaller developers to sell a game (for lower than full price) while it is in Beta, so gamers can help the developers beta test the game before a full release is done.
Also, beta testing on PC is much easier since you can patch up a game while it is released super easy without the need to jump through hoops. Smaller developers would need to hire an army of testers, which they can not.
