Needs far less than that to easily look/run better than the console version.

Thats some fucked with requirements there. A 7970 with 6GB of VRAM? Didn't they make like 20 of those?

Don't tell that to console fanboys, they think that every console game is equal to PC on Ultra.

That's some insane fucking bloat.

how do you even achieve 6 gb VRAM? SLI doesn't double your Vram.

If this trends keeps going with the multiplatfrom games then my I5 3750k + gtx780 3gb VRAM will become outdated pretty quick :(

Bullshit. I'll keep callign bs until i see some benchmarks.

It's still has PS360 versions, and doesn't even look truly next gen, like AC Unity, TW3, Batman, Division, etc.

No way does ultra at 1080p require 6GB of VRAM.

No way does 1080 high require a 3GB card

Unless it's a complete pos port.

Those budget PC threads are going to get more and more suspect as the gen rolls on.

If PC gamer's video is any indication, the game doesn't even have particularly good looking textures to begin with. I have a feeling that all that VRAM is just going to be used to prevent any pop-in, and not because the game uses really high res textures (which it doesn't seem to). That's not the game's main visual problem though: the art style and the world look incredibly drab; I realize they're in Mordor and all, but that doesn't excuse ugly, drab environments.

Only time will tell if those 6GBs translate to an improvement or not.

At least they didn't claim that you'll require 6GB of VRAM and anything less is a no go (Bugthesda).

I bet the console versions will use Medium textures.

Everyone cries when shitty console ports, but when a dev provides some graphics longevity to the game by implementing higher requirements then "it's BS".

Wait and judge.

Disastrous.

Developers need to learn to truly get shit done the right way, before shipping their games in these nonsensical states. Plan out extra development time with the publisher(s) if you must to work out the quirks. Releasing a new Ip in these conditions its practically inflicting damage to the brand the publisher spends millions in marketing to popularize.

Not a good start.

I can't even run this bitch properly on Low settings in my laptop.

No its not. Those 2 versions do not run the textures that require 6gb vram.

Stop thinking that a PC needs to run at ultra to out-do the console counter-parts.

Oh really? Yet, Black Flag and Watch Dogs get maxed out at 1080p by my 2GB 760.

Now you're telling me in less than 6 months, with a game that also has PS360 version, and doesn't look any better, it'll no longer do?

Unless the PS4 version is running at 720p, or at medium settings, there's no way they optimized the consoles enough to make my card, and many others, this outdated already.

Then tell in what way can Unity or TW3 work? Do you have any honest idea what 6GB of VRAM even is.

Almost no game uses more than 2gb of video memory yet to be maxed out at 1080p. And you're telling me Shadows of Mordor needs 3 just for high settings? Now imagine what 6GB is even for.

Keep dreaming. It's either a mistake, or just plain bad optmization. I'll eat crow if my 760 doesn't get benchmarked at 1080p ultra 30fps. And i say 30, assuming the consoles are also atthat frame rate.

Switching from high to ultra textures wont hit our FPS much at all, imo. Just a bit of micro stutter when quickly scrolling the mouse across/camera rotation especially on a high draw distance scene. I'll eat crow with you if it ends up being unplayable or below 30FPS (lol). Until then I laugh at peasants playing this game on their gimped settings.

I can see 3 options here.

1) The game is either badly optimized or built with some future tech upgrade in mind

2) when they list the total of Vram they might Refer to the overall amount of RAM needed for the GPU, which in most cases tends to be twice of the amount of ram on the GPU can pull from (go look up how much it uses, you will find that something like a 670 or 770 has access to 4 gb on the 2 gb models and so on). If they change the calculations like that, it must mean that some change is happening within the way devs calculate specs, maybe due to a new DX? This I doubt however since the pic listed a 570 with 1200 is of Ram.

3) might be a dev copy of a none cleaned up game (unlikely though)

So on the bright side we know that we are in for a gen where Graphics might be pushed a good bit, sadly that would mean that most multiplats would have tu use a low amount of cpu processing since optimization is not a miracle maker. A gen with 1 gb of ram dedicated to cpu inbound -.- forget everything about advanced ai -.-

could be, it is likely that devs can see how soon 4k will arrive for PC, and plan accordingly, to prolong life expectency of the games. and simply downscale for 1080p resolutions.

So you need 3GB to max out the game, and if you're playing at a crazy resolution you get the pack. That makes sense.

men total accesserable ram. if I look at my GPUs they are listed as "2 GB ram dedicated on Card, 4 gb ram overall acceserable. so a good deal of Cards do use some storage elsewhere, althrough that would automatically mean that the second 2 gb it pulls from the system resources would have to be either virtual or through the PCs own ram pool (first option most likely) and mean that the second 2 gb would be slow as freakin dirt).

Yeah, but asking 3GB for ultra is still streaching abit considering all others games are fine with 2gb so far.

Unless it's just hyperbole with requirements, which which is almost always the case wiht every game. So i'm betting on that.

Either that, or the console versions aren't looking too pretty themselves.

Even then, GRID's HD texture pack, or Ryse's 4K requirements only go up to 4GB. Which cards actually have 6GB on them?

So they recommend either a high end Intel cpu, or a weak AMD CPU for half the price.

Either this is some AMD shenanigans, or these are pretty meaningless recommendations.
