Following its reimaginings of Resident Evil 2 and 3, multiple development sources have told VGC that the Resident Evil 4 remake has now entered full production with an estimated release window in 2022.

Yawn capcom another remake. they will remake entire series, then they will remake RE5, then RE6, and 10 years later we will se RE7 remake, then RE2 remake remake remastered reboots.

I think RE4 has potential to sell double that of RE2. I think it has greater appeal. But they should also remake Code Veronica lol. Never played it.

Resident Evil 4 on the Xbox Series X would be absolutely glorious.

Resident Evil 4 is easily the most tired game in the franchise and has probably aged the worst, also it's not even a good Resident Evil game. It's a fine game all its own but that is abstract of it being Resident Evil and this is the last game that needs to be remade, it's been ported 20 different times, had HD rereleases, it's a beat to death horse.

Resident evil 4 is among the most overrated game of all time imo along with GTA, COD4, witcher 3 etc.

No, he's absolutely right. Go look at reviews of all the re-releases, even ones which are significantly superior versions to the GameCube release. It's all the same shit, the game is corny, it's hokey, it's severely dated and aged poorly, it hardly has any relevance to anything Resident Evil related and it spawned sequels which piggyback on it and greatly amplify its weaknesses.

It's a relic of the past and it's nothing special. It's ADHD gaming for the early 2000's.

I understand if they want to remake Code Veronica as I think the game not played by many but 4? Its still really good to play and beautiful visuals even today.

@sakaixx: yeah, RE4 is still a lot of fun to play but I imagine for many getting use to the controls is hard, I know it takes getting use to myself when I go back to play it. I wonder if they updated controls with a modern dual analog design but kept rest of game the same whether that might make gameplay way too easy, so might be worth looking into giving it a more ambitious remake to adjust for this.

A remake can only be worse. I think most Capcom fans would rather have a Dino Crisis remake.

The HD project for RE4 is almost done. It will be good enough then.

If they remake it with the heart they put into RE2, that's great. But, if they pull another RE3, then meh.

RE4 doesn't need a remake. RE2 needed a remake because the original RE2 aged like milk. FFS Capcom put those resources towards Resident Evil 8 instead

But Resident Evil 4 doesn't have zombies. I think that they should remake Code Veronica and maybe 0. But right now I'm really interested in what they will do for Resident Evil 8.

Remaking the PS1 era games makes a lot of sense, it is hard to go back to tank controls. I won't say doing the same to RE4 is a terrible idea, updated visuals certainly wouldn't hurt, but modern games still ape mechanics from that game. There just isn't as much point to doing this.

I'm pretty well over Capcom's current death march of IPs. They need to bring back long dormant IPs... first and foremost, Dino Crisis. Move from there to others.

Much like Halflife 2, Resident Evil 4 has a really strong art-direction. In both cases all they need is touched up.

We seem to have this aspiration towards ultra-realism thinking it's the end of all ends even in stuff that already looked great (and were suitably updated) to begin with.

Code Veronica would have been better, if this is true. Re4 is the game that least needs an upgrade, and it'll probably **** up the flow.

RE4 still shits on Doom's combat anyday of the week it also has some of the coolest weapon animations of all time.

Resident Evil 4 has the best combat ever.

Only now games like Alyx are catching up with teleport mechanics, although it has no melee to stun-lock them forever, so even that fails.

They have remastered RE4 23124891 times. It doesn't need a remake. Its a good game so of course ill buy it and play it, but they should have remade Onimusha 1 instead. I want them to reboot the franchise as a whole.

It would actually make more sense to remake Resident Evil. Since the original remake is actually rather dated. No interest in remaking 4-6. Code Veronica and RE:Zero would also be more interesting than doing 4. 4 is a dead horse.

The backgrounds do look like shit, in terms of clarity against the high res characters. It's a shame the developers of all the HD masters didn't go back to the original background drawings and scan them again.

I hope Capcom isn't stupid. If RE4R sells well, what if Capcom is dumb enough to think that just cuz RE4R sold well, fans want an action game out of the RE series? This has already happened with RE4 lol. Are we doing a full circle???

Just license the RE4HD mod and release it as a patch or something. The game is still good for today's standards anyway, unless Capcom want to do a cash grab by making another version of the game for the next consoles.
