A job listing for a lead environment modeller at Cloud Chamber reads: “We want you to set the example, leading efforts to help us breathe life into a new and fantastical world.

“Together, we will set the stage for a stunning narrative and systems-driven experience.”

The successful applicant will be required to “create visually appealing, 3D models of natural and architectural elements based on concept art and/or photo reference while extracting the best / brightest details and exaggerating those to a point of caricature.”

None of bioshock games were good. infinite is among worst AAA FPS of all time. they are now rebooting it.

Loved the idea of Bioshock but never could quite get into the playing bit. That's a me thing though. Maybe this one will be different. Very good news for fans anyway.

Bioshock 2 and Minerva's Den are some of the best FPS I've ever played.

Yep, way better than 1/3.

The Bioshock games were great because of the writing. With the him no longer involved I'm not as confident.

@uninspiredcup: @vfighter: I keep wondering what ever happened to the team that made Bioshock 2.

2K maroon or something

I hope they take notes from games like Prey, and Arkane immersive sims in general. I really loved Rapture as a setting, it was really creepy and fascinating, but there was an over-reliance on the combat, which was pretty average, and for some reason they doubled down on the combat in Infinite and made the game more scripted/linear.

I liked 1 and 2. Infinite really, really sucked. Since that is their latest one, and since it got great reviews, forgive me for not hyping the next one.

Different team making reboot. beside im not hyping because i hated the originals 2.

Rather play System shock 2 or its true spritual successor Prey.

i loved bioshock one. the combat hasn't aged that well but the story, art style, sound design and atmosphere are so well crafted they help to mask any imperfections in the gameplay. that's not to say it plays badly, it just shows its age when you compare against some of the best in the fps adventure / immersive sim genre. pity the remastered version is a temperamental f*cker to run on steam. had to fight with it to prise it out of perma-windowed mode, then it boots only when it's in the mood. wouldn't mind playing through the trilogy again but can't be bothered battling with them to run.

i enjoyed the other two as well. i'd love a reboot. deathloop reminds me of dishonored mixed with bioshock. i'd love to see some similar kind of fusion of styles from 2k

Prey arguably tries to hard to be System Shock to the point it has no real identity of it's own other than filling bullet points.

It's like a tribute band relegated to local pubs with no aspirations other than being that.

@R4gn4r0k: Producer of that game Melissa Miller is still with 2K. She most recently worked on Borderlands 3 and XCOM Chimera Squad.

Nah man, I applaud him.

As "spiritual successors" to the System Shock series, I thought they were terrible. As games of their own, they were mediocre.

The combat was just way too formulaic and staged. The story was OK I guess for being Ayn Rand.

I won't say they are a poor game series, just one of the most overrated of all time.

That's a good question. Which I can't be arsed Googling.

Bioshock 2, rather undeservingly got tagged as a clone cash-grab with many looking down on it without having touched it.

While Bioshock 3 was the second coming of Christ with Rat Man putting out a deeply pretentious video which I still hate to this day.

As time has went on that perception has fairly rapidly changed and I think when you ask people who've played all three, 2 will be the one put on a pedestal.

It's a bit like Sergio Leone, everyone's seen and loves The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. But when Once Upon A Time In The West was released it was to a much more muted and polarizing response. Then people woke up.

Combat never felt super great but the games were fun. I enjoyed 1's story well enough.

Really love 1 and infinite. But what happens without Ken Levine?

They have done libertarianism, communism and American exceptionalism. They should do a SJW dystopia next 😂... Not going to happen though.

All three Bioshock games we amazing, and did so many things for storytelling in games that came after. Glad they're making a new one, but without Ken Levine, I'm worried that secret sauce might be missing.

Stopped reading after "none of the BioShock games were good".

Your opinions are bad Ghosts, no other way of putting it.

I liked these at the time, the first one was revolutionary to me when I played it on my Xbox 360 years back. Felt the second game was too short. Didn't like Infinite. Upon replaying it after the remaster, I thought the he original dragged on too long, the second one was the right length, and Infinite still was as much of a disappointment as I remember.

Nonetheless, I am open to seeing what they come up with, though I can't imagine anything that will out-do Prey (2017) anytime soon.

I really enjoyed 1 and Infinite, I thought 2 was ok but didn’t really get into it like the others. I am very interested in seeing what this new one will be like although I’m a bit concerned about it without Levine.

Meh. Bioshock Infinite killed the IP by establishing a bunch of stupid rules for the franchise (i.e. there are infinite parallel universes, but they all follow the same franchise-friendly template for marketing reasons).

So...why bother with a sequel? Nothing you do will matter, because even if you succeed there are infinite in-text universes where you don't.

Awesome series, and i never understood why there hasn't been any since Infinite. I hope the next bioshock has huge levels with a lot of secret areas to explore.

I wish Ken Levine would make another Freedom Force.
