SuperData: Big publisher showcases did not suffer from absence of E3 - gamesindustry.biz

As I predicted, as the publishers take their shows online, they will see that their numbers will not suffer one bit. Exactly that has now happened.

Next, I believe they will match those numbers against all the money and resources they've saved from not being at E3, and they will conclude that E3 is not worth it. Expect many to follow Nintendo's lead and keep their shows online permanently, and E3 2021 to be either cancelled or scaled down to irrelevance.

I predicted it for years; E3's days were always numbered. Well, that day has now arrived, and E3's numbers are up. Discuss or share your memories of our recently departed friend.

Well Nintendo and Sony never suffered any loss from not appearing.

And companies like EA just held their own event right before E3.

Still, I can't say I didn't miss it this year.

E3 was an excess that I personally don't miss. It's a relic of the Old World now.

e3 was cool back in the day with gaming magazines and looking at the booth babes an stuff.

I didn't like when they said booth babes were sexist and stopped using them in fact I don't like 2020 or 2019 where all this crap is sexist now.

I’m really hoping that E3 comes back next year bigger and better then ever. I sure did feel it’s absence this year. I really miss having those cool moments that you can only have on a large stage in front of a live audience.

Goodbye E3 and you won't be missed at all!

I'm sorry if my words are harsh but the reality is, E3 itself is expensive as hell and developers/publisher would rather stream their own press without costing them a dime. Maybe if E3 stop being over expensive, this wouldn't be an issue with companies not wanting to stream on media in the first place.

Same. It's not necessarily that I missed the conferences and the big, bombastic presentations, it's the onslaught of gaming news from every major publisher coming all in one week and having that information overload of new games to get excited about and pick apart.

It sucks that we won't get this kind of content in the future.

Yeah I think you are right, it’s over. I enjoyed the hype leading up to it, the memes and the Crowbat vids. But tbh the conferences themselves were not that exciting. They used to be very amateurish, but the last few years it was mostly just trailer, after trailer. Seems like no-one wants to make a fool of themselves anymore 😂. I understand why, but it also made the whole thing very boring.
