Resident Evil Village will officially support Ray Tracing on PC

Honestly, after playing Control and Medium, I no longer think RT is a gimmick. RT Master Race for the win. After playing with RT, it's hard to get back to playing without it. I fully understood how cool RT is after I got scared a few times of my own reflection off the wall or a piece of broken glass. My RTX 3090 and DLSS2 are ready lol.

Poor console gamers will never be able to enjoy RT in its full glory. Only on PC>:)

But i have a PC, bought a few years ago for a grand, just sits in the corner of the room. Its hooked up to the printer and i use it when i need to photo copy some documents.

I would rather it support VR. Still can't believe they didn't bother porting it into the pc version of re7, they're just leaving money on the table.

I was gonna get it on PC anyway and I hope my RTX 2070 is still strong enough to use RT for RE8!

@ivangrozny: lol it supports FidelityFX which is AMD version of DLSS. In other words I don't think DLSS is supported.

Played the demo on PS5 it looked great.

And yes it supports RT.

How the **** would i know, the specs a grand gets you i guess, i didn't buy it to game on, only a fool plays games on an e-mail machine.

I will agree here - although I think RTX is great, VR seems like it should be a much higher priority, especially for games like this

Why would it be omitted from PC? If they use RT on consoles shouldn't this be a given? Only ways I feel RT in this RE game should be SW worthy is if Capcom doesn't use RT do pander to a lowest common denominator, or if they use RT in one console version and not another.

But it's AMD raytracing, so it will be SUPER meh with even bigger performance costs than RTX.

Consoles can’t do RT properly, not worth putting it on those systems especially giving it effects the performance too.

@tumorstation5: But that's what it supports. AMD has the marketing deal for RE8 so it's doubtful you will get full feature support for Nvidia cards.

The missus said one day we need a new PC so i went and bought one, i hooked it up to my printer and i print documents when needed, and when im on there i check my e-mails, i usually do that on my phone.

During the pandemic my kids used it for their schooling (i'll explain what kids are another day) and i have no idea what the missus uses it for other than storing photos on it.

I have never used it to play video games and never will, so don't know nor care about its specs.

There you have it, my current PC's life story for my special peeps on SW.

It seems weird to some of these guys because they don't have a missus or kids, so don't really know much about "real" life, you've got kids also, so you know what im talking about there.

saying ray-tracing is a gimmick is like saying shadows, ambiant occlusion, anisotropic filtering are gimmicks. In the early days of anti aliasing it had a steep performance hit, but i don't recall anyone saying it was a gimmick. RT will get to that point eventually as cards and rt cores become more powerful/efficient. It is only when you try running 3 or 4 different RT effects like Cyberpunk that performance really can tank, I have the feeling RE Village will likely only use one two(shadows/occlusion) which would be perfect for a RE game. Anyway my PC is ready.

You keep drinking that Nvidia kool-aid. I'll keep enjoying games at higher than 20fps on next gen cards. You people who have fallen for it still haven't shown me a game where ray tracing looks noticeable better than convention shaders.

Ok I see your point but I wouldn't go as far as saying it is not close to PC.

I can run games with maxed RT most of the time on my 3070. How is it nvidia kool-aid if AMD and soon Intel have ray-tracing? Go play Cyberpunk with all RT off and then with RT on ultra and tell me there is no difference or is your PC too potato?

@eoten: I know this isn't my argument....and you'll probably dismiss it anyway.......but the industry generally accepts that Metro Exodus and Control are the benchmark examples of what a leap real time ray tracing is.

I'm not talking about nvidias implementation or their PR spin.

I'm talking about Microsoft's DXR, which is a more universal standard.

It allows more engines and games to implement RT without needing to pay an nvidia tax.

This is why AMD and even consoles have RT and will continue in the future until all lighting will be done with RT.....even if it's a more simplified method

Waiting for reviews on this one, but if I do play it, it'll be on my PC (R5 5600X, RX 6800 XT) for that sweet ray tracing goodness.
