I'm specifically talking about the previous gen before that, the n64 multiplayer games.*Nostalgia sigh* those days were fun. There was nothing more awesome than getting a group of friends togetherand play nintendo games like perfect dark(the actual good game, forget zero), goldeneye, smash bros, mario tenis, dk 64, turok 2, and even mario party. I wasn't too much into multiplayer at this time, but these games were the center of attention for my and my friends. Anyone in sw remember that time.

yup. i tells ya online has done nothing but bad things for consoles. back in the day bugs were well hidden, when you got a game you got the complete game and the 5 year olds shouting at you were people you knew. kids nowadays....no respect for their elders i tells ya one of the mumble mumble.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :p seriosuly though ive never been interested much in MP...so i dont really. i was playing games at the time but i never really played MP.

Issue is trying playing split screen with those same friends again, you probably can't, we are in different colleges, I welcome online in consoles. Maybe I don't miss it as much as other people because I been playing online multiplayer since Warcraft 2/Diablo/Starcraft (i.e. around the time of the n64).

Although I remember system link Halo CE and PD/Golden Eye, they were indeed great.

I put so many hours into Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, it was just nuts. I agree about Perfect Dark, some of my fav guns ever were from that game.

Yeah, everyone just ran around trying to look for it first. For the people that don't know, the game was like COD mercenary, you didn't have your own class.

Yep, I do remember those days, but I also remember loving online gaming on my PC back then too.

I still love both, but I wouldn't touch an online console game with a 10 foot pole. Worst online communities ever.

Nintendo's still making good local multiplayer games though. You won't get a Goldeneye, but at least they haven't given up on games like Smash Bros, or Mario Kart, and incorporating co-op into Super Mario Bros was pretty awesome.

yep.

Goldeneye. Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros 64. Pokemon Stadium 1/2. we're in college now, but we still recall back to the minigames we played in Pokemon Stadium 2:lol: it was just that great of a memory.

the Nintendo 64 was the best tbh. and it was a beast for split-screen games.

Loved those days! My first console was a PlayStation 1. I sat in front of that thing for hours playing my favorite PS1 games: ........

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

Croc 2

Spyro (the origanal first one)

Never got into crash bandicoot for some reason though, thaughthe was too much of a goofball charictor.

Vigalante 8: Second Offence

Best games for PS1 imo.

yeah, 'im not saying online is bad, but games without it used to have much more substance on the single player . now we get 4-5 hour shooters.. thats why im hyping castlevania: LoS, iv read somewhere is has a 20+ hour campaign, also Vanquish do not have multiplayer but seems fun, and has feeling to it, saddly both games are going to be greatly overlooked, =/

Playing nWo vs WCW, Goldeneye, and Twisted Metal 2 with friends was some of my favorite times gaming. That was back when broadband wasn't really around either, so LAN PC gaming was still big too. Couldn't play online too much since the family would rage when you hogged the phone line. There's still some great local MP gaming to be had like Reach, and lot's of Wii games.

The N64/PSX era was great, but I still consider the SNES/Genesis era to be the golden era of gaming.

You know.. I wish someone would make a thread about how they're GLAD they missed the old generations. It's always the same stuff otherwise. "boo hoo I miss SNES" -- "waaah golden age." Idk if I'm exaggerating the crying sounds too much, I don't really read any of your posts that clearly, but come on. It probably wasn't as good as you guys say it is. Just nostalgia of being kids again. Were it a PS3 or 360 and it was the year 2025, we'd be hearing the samething.

Nah, you're misinterpreting and over-exaggerating. There was something good about having to get together with friends in order to play multiplayer games. Took a lot more dedication. It's similar to the difference between calling somebody on the phone to have a chat, as opposed to meeting up at a cool bar and having a few drinks while reminiscing about the good ol' days.

If you missed out on those gens, then you wouldn't really know what you're talking about anyway. Right?

I still remember sitting in a room with 6 friends playing winner goes on for Tony Hawk's pro skater. Also LOVED Donkey Kong 64. In fact, I had the clear green version :D
