Up there with The Witcher 3 for the best game of this generation.

Totally expected RDR2 win again & well deserve. I really hope Spyro Reignited Trilogy lands in number 2 at least cause I'm sooo hype to play it this weekend on my PS4!!!!

I think the game looks ridiculous personally

visually its amazing but 1. the 3rd person view is very distracting 2. the KKK beatup video I saw was completely ridiculous. He was literally standing next to them and they didnt see him and then the only interactive option is to beat them up...how original is that?

I want to know how crash has sold.

Witcher 3 expansions alone destroy so called GOTY games. First party is a joke infront of CD Projeckt Red and Rockstar.

Game earns it. A remarkable achievement across the board.

The game looks amazing and when I finally get around to playing it I very much imagine that it’ll be my 2018 Game of the Year.

GOTY, maybe gen. So much to do, discover, and all with that distinctive rockstar style and storytelling. I love it.

Rockstar only know how to win.

They know how to sell video games. Rockstar learned a great lesson from Max Payne 3.

I'm playing Thronebreaker right now. Even CDPR card game has better story than most AAA titles out there.

I'm kinda shocked MK8D is on the list.

Why do people even like this game? I find it SO repetitive just like all of the GTAs... I cant ever enjoy a rockstar title.. and god knows ive tried.

Fun game plus the Switch doesn't have a lot of options. I'm more baffled why anyone is still buying AC Odyssey when the masterpiece RDR2 shits on it in every possible way.

The first two hours were boring enough for me to go back and finish AC Odyssey. Glad its selling well but I really hope there's more to it then just looking pretty.

Red dead 2 was always in contention not sure the story is as good as GOW though. I think it's 50/50 between these two for game of the year.

two things,

1. what I saw was him NOT hitting anyone but them coming after him once they saw him, but granted I might not have seen the whole story

2. more importantly, my point of 'gee there is another new creative idea on something to do that is different that hasnt been done in every major release in multiple decades...get into yet another fight'

@robert_sparkes: GOW has A story. RDR2 has countless. Not saying GOW isn't a good game, but GOTY is pushing it. For me.

All of my friends who have it are pretty lukewarm about it - especially about the clunky mechanics and endless story padding.

I was thinking of waiting for a sale, but I'll be curious to hear people's opinions once the honeymoon period ends.

I personally didn't like it.

The biggest offender for me was the shooting controls. If the game was a shooter it would be raked over the coals for how badly done the shooting controls are. For a AAA company they are an embarrassment.

Next I found the game boring. Too many tedious fetch quest. Spend 5-10 minutes riding to location x. Maybe a minute of action then 5-10 minutes more of riding.

The story didn't grab me at all but I did only play for about 15 hours before moving on to other games.

I sold mine after like three hours. The combat is not fun. Another insanely overrated Rockstar game.

I think whether you'll enjoy it really depends on what you are looking to get out of it.

if you want an exciting action game with tight controls and quick pacing, this is definitely not for you.

if you like the idea of living in the boots of a cowboy for a while and role-playing as one, spending time slowly exploring a gorgeous world and getting to know some colourful characters, then you might think its one of the best games ever. I think you need to be fully on board with the setting/time period and be able to appreciate much slower paced gameplay and story progression than you typically find in AAA games.

For myself, I consider immersion and atmosphere to be the most important factor in enjoying singleplayer games, and RDR2 NAILS the immersion. it also helps that I love the setting and time period.

so even though the controls feel pretty bad until you get used to them and the shootouts are pretty mediocre from a mechanical perspective, its a game I have enjoyed immensely (I'm not finished but i'm done the 'main' part of the story, currently going through the epilogue). the story is definitely longer than it needs to be but I loved it overall.

no its really much simpler.

if you like the idea of GTA with horses instead of cars in the old west then you will love this game.

not suggesting that is bad (I personally am not interested) but I think its a fair overall picture.

as a side note for me the 3rd person view kills immersion for me completely. I get how pretty it is, but watching that characters back like that is a deal breaker for me on the immersion question

@hrt_rulz01: how is Forza 4? I picked up Xbox One X to play RDR 2 at its best (it’s already been worth it), but’ve heard great things about it. Best Forza yet?

You can't go wrong with any forza horizon game. 4 is incredible and looks unreal on the x the new seasons really make a difference for the gameplay.

@MirkoS77: Yeah, it arguably is the best Forza yet. If you like racing games in the slightest, it's a must buy. And it looks great on X... it has a 4k or 60 fps mode to choose from too :)

Well-deserved success, this game is basically a dream come true for fans of Westerns, I cannot think of anything that even comes close.... except the first game. One of the most beautiful open worlds I've ever seen, both technically and artistically. Writing is excellent and gameplay is fun & varied, definitely my favorite single player game of the year.

Nice to see FH4 up there with the heavyweights, they said they are planning on supporting it more than FH3 and have plans for more than just 2 expansions, but nothing concrete announced yet.

The fact that people still buy COD makes me lose faith in humanity.
