Reasons to hate the DS

After being inspired by the responses (and TC) of the "Post one reason to hate the Wii" thread, i came to the conclusion that the DS needs to be called out.

Here it goes:

2 screens is gimmicky lol!

Two screens? lol, like with the Wii, its sad to see a company make such a useless and gimmicky feature like adding TWO screens lol. Are they trying to make it sound like its TWO times better then the PSP? pff

Whats wrong with one screen, its the method used for YEARS and they bring this crappy novelty fad to fool the dumb inferior casuals.

Thats why the PSP is infinitly the superior system. Its totally hardcore with its GTAs and Resistance, it uses the gamer stamp of approval input method; the analog stick. And has ONE super mega big widescreen display to show off its fantastic grfx... which btw...

Greedy Nintendo, yet again holding the gaming industry back by making a weak POS handheld system that simply wont compete with Sony's little tech marvel; the PSP. How can anyone choose the weaker system when we all know that technology drives games. We need realistic grafix for maximum imersiveness. Not shallow 2D games.

The PSP is the WAAAAY superior ultimate system, it can reproduce a true console experience on the go AND provide gamers with all the media functions any superior human being appretiates on a gaming system. The crappy DS barely pushes N64 grafx:lol: and the only reason it sells its because of the dumb casuals.

The PSP is by far the best handheld system ever developed by inteligent beings. Why?

• fantastic graphics for super imersive games. The most important thing
• Analog Stick. Best and most accurate control device ever made. This has been PROVED
• State of the art hardware for complex physics, AI, etc..
• UMD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>cartridgesslol
• large Widescreen display to savour those drool-inducing grfx
• You can see movies and listen to music. I SAID WOOWOWOWOW!!!!

HARDCORE GAMERS, support technology, not gimmicky gimmicks. Suport better grafx and fight against change. We already reached the peak of control methods and ideas, lets all just focus our attention on pushing the grfx of the hardcore games we all love.

Wii/DS = destroyers of gaming

One problem I have with the DS is that even though it's supposed to be more powerful than the N64, it can't even smooth it's textures. It looks like PS1 graphics instead of N64 graphics.Willy105

the handheld market for nintendo was already mainly for younger kids, but now it's for kids and girls thanks to DS. and for young men too thanks to PSP.

but nintendo's main audience for consoles used to be more young male oriented (also kids but not as much as handhelds) that's why nintendo focused on supporting their systems with alot of games that were great, yet appealled to varying ages. Now, thanks to Wii, Nintendo supports their console with mostly meh games that appeal to EVERYONE. Appealing to everyone isn't the bad part, the bad part is that they aren't making as many great amazing games like SMG

I like the PSP hardware way more than the DS, but I suppose most people would agree that it's better hardware-wise. I do like the DS's touch screen though. It would be useful in PSP2 in addition to full dualshock functionality, and tilt sensors (which have rare enough use that if it wasn't included I wouldn't care that much).

On a handheld I can see discs and cartridges both have benefits. Cartridges take less physical space in the device and are energy efficient and faster. They are more expensive and lack storage space though. If devs can make it whatever size they choose (if they need 1GB or 8GB), and they are cheap enough I would like the idea of games on a cartridge, such as SD. More than I care for consoles though I would like to be able to keep all my games on the handheld. They need expandable flash storage (the main system storage, not the games) so I'm not stuck with what I buy, a unique form with more space than an SD card if need be. I'd be happy with a purely digital distro system (won't happen anytime soon I know) if Sony kept a record of my purchases so if I lost my data I could send in my system or drive, and get a second copy of all my games to replace what I lost.

Seconded. This is really the only reason why anyone would hate the DS, next to being a complete graphics whore who puts illegal firmware on his PSP to steal games.
