Forgive me, on shitty tablet. Just a heads up, hard as nails Rayman has had a fan "reimagining" released. Polished up for widescreen, new abilities and levels and a casual mode along with other shit, not sure if Ubisoft will pull a Nintendo.

It's pretty good, entire thing is basically quality of life touch up with additional content. Be nice if Ubisoft, gave it Black Mesa type support since doubt OG Rayman is shifting any copies these days.

@ghosts4ever:

Childish-looking: yes. However, the original Rayman plays far from childish. It is widely regarded as one of the hardest games from that generation and I believe also in the conversation of hardest platformers of all time.

Ah! A video game that was created back when Ubi was in the top of their game. Now they're in a toilet with 10 pounds of shit over them.

Rayman is about the only franchise Ubisoft hasn't fucked up.

And yea, don't let the aesthetics or recent entries fool you, this game is fucking brutal.

Redemption alleviates it somewhat removing some of the more (shall we say?) bullshit elements, allowing the player to see more of the screenspace as well, but still retains that DSP level skill bar.

I never played it back in the day but really enjoying this. Deceivingly difficult but handles well and never feels unfair. The dev/s have some skill that's for sure.

Nice. This game was so hard. I probably won't play this - I have a free copy of Legends or Origins to try first before diving back into this. But good (and frustrating) memories.

This is a game recommend playing on casual, only real difference seems to be no limited life's. Pretty sure most, if not all who finished it originally just inputted the 99X life code.

This is a fanmade game? And Ubisoft is cool with this? Lemme DL this now just in case they're not.

I’m not sure if Ubi is allowing this but they should. It looks more fun than anything they released in a while imo

@BenjaminBanklin: It's the OG game polished up with additional levels.

Think best thing Ubisoft could do is hire them akin to Sega. Get some Sonic Mania type shit out.

I'd say Donkey Kong Country Returns is a recent 2D paltformer that does not joke around.

You die so easily to pitfalls and lose health really easily to enemies.

Well, if you can score a SNES classic somewhere I'd certainly recommend DKC 1,2 and 3. They are among the best, and offer a fair but challenging difficulty.

I'm going through Tropical Freeze right now. It's good fun.

@R4gn4r0k: Goes without saying def wouldn't recommend Mario Deluxe on Switch, so bland not even worth hating.

At its best the map reminds me of the one from Super Mario World on SNES

I had some fun with it in co-op. When we played with three people someone had to use the Wiimote on its side, so one player was always gimped. LMAO

cup being a putz aside, mario bros u being bland may be an issue, but Luigi U has a lot of mean platforming levels that are pretty legit. Mario U suffers from typical mario structuring. The early half of the game is made so anyone can beat it, and then the stuff that's actually fun is there for completionists who didn't get completely turned off by the boring first half.

Luigi U tho is a bit more legit. It's no Tropical Freeze. It sure as hell isn't Rayman Origins and Legends. But it's a lot more interesting than the new super mario bros games as far as offering something that pushes back.

@jg4xchamp: One aspect I hate the least in any game genre is a timer making you hurry up.

I gave Luigi U a few tries but could not get into it. I start the level and the timer immediately stresses me out. I can't have it.

People saying Rayman was hard obviously never played a Megaman game before and even I find Rayman games an easy peasy platform. Also, not really interest in this remake so this is a pass.

@R4gn4r0k: I'm sure it does have it's moments, as with most games and that fun factor will undoubtedly amplified with social interaction, but the lack challenge, the mobile phone looking art direction, the lack of innovation, it's direct (cheaper) competitors, very underwelming. Ordinarily wouldn't be a big deal, play my share of crap, but when Nintendo's name is attached tend to expect a higher bar.

Mean probably end up playing and enjoying this more costing the tidy sum of zero.

Widescreen looks gorgeous but games in that era were designed with CRT SDTVs in mind. Are there any shaders to help with this?

@lamprey263: The original Rayman came with level making tools and accumulated creators around it, including official release of creations under "Rsyman:Forever" .
