Hello.

No Caption Provided

Assume we live in some alternate universe where you can only have one, because we all have space cancer or something.

Let's assume in this alternate universe as well emulation is impossible due to some godlike DRM.

Therefor your only option here is to get one of these.

Please choose.

(side note - This universe is also incredibly authoritarian and denies Last_lap an opinion)

Neither.

But probably take the Saturn mini. Not because I think it's better, but because I've played the PS1 games I like into the ground. Only SotN remains as a game I like to revisit to this day. (which Saturn has too, allegedly not as good).

At least with Saturn, can probably still find something neat I never played.

Ah shit, don't know why I thought PS1 vs Saturn.

Yeah I'll take the PS2, plenty of high replay stuff that I know I like.

Ah, I knew that that damn DRM would be anywhere, even in an alternate universe. There is no escape.

I voted PS2 because it was more powerful than Saturn, and I have never owned a PS2 before.

PS2. Simple decision. That machine and its library are impeccable.

Assuming emulation is impossible, which in itself is utterly daft as any modern PC system could crack 'God Like DRM' from the 90's, it would have to be a mini PS2.

Probgo with the Saturn as well but mainly because it was advertised and sold like shit in the UK, barely anyone played it. And actual emulation is abit of a shit show. Games as well that weren't released in the West.

PS2 was all over the place.

Probably PS2 mini although it would very much depend on the game selection each offered.

I'd rather have the Saturn mini since it's still pretty easy to play PS2 games for me. However, the PS2 mini has better molding capability I woupd imagine... so although I voted Saturn I think I changed my mind overall.

Saturn non modded

PS2 modded

100% Saturn mini. The Saturn had a unique library. A library most people missed.

I wish they just make these games available digitally via BC emulation on modern hardware. Sega themselves seems rather lazy about it for multiple generations releasing the same Genesis collection, often shedding games here and there with each release. And they don't expand on the idea. They don't say add content expansion for more titles for Genesis games, or offer Sega CD or 32X titles, or Master System titles, or Saturn or Dreamcast titles. I'd love a Sega arcade collection but they more often one-off release their older arcade titles.

As for Sony. They did such a great job building a digital catalog of PS1/PS2 classics on PS3 to purchase at affordable prices, that all went in toilet during move to PS4 and Sony adopting streaming BC, and the gaming world was so enamored with Sony winning so much nobody dared be critical of this abandonment. They should go back to that, what they offered during PS3 era. There's just a huge wealth of games from then, I wouldn't settle for some shit 40 game collection or whatever and that be the end of it.

There's literally nothing that Sony would put on a ps2-mini that'd make me want one.

Panzer Dragoon Saga alone on a Saturn-mini would make it must-buy.

Aren't most Saturn games outrageously expensive? Probably that.
