@TheEroica: I get you, but in this case we can assume (especially in DA:I's case) that it was due to how the devs built their games more than due to how the makers built their console.

I guess this proves that, besides good connections and infrastructure, for an all digital future we will need better, faster and far more effective solutions for these (and other) problems.

Steam seems to have the right idea, even if it's sometimes a hassle to put it on offline mode.

I had the exact problem first time i tried DA:I when my internet was down, when i asked people here about it people told me i just "trolling" and game works fine offline. I thought it only was the first time you start the game it needed online. It is a settings you can change to never have the game log in online, that may help for future server downtimes since the game seem to get stuck in the login screen.

@tormentos: I use wifi, so no cable, but I suppose I can disconnect and try again. Thanks for the advice.

@Desmonic: yeah I'm sure Sony has enough on their plate... Its weird, this is actually the second time that a psn outing has caused me to not get to play SP games on my ps4... I'm no techy, lol I just want to play some games....

Gah! PSN is still down for me... Slightly annoying, because Netflix/Crunchyroll need to check their licenses online... Thankfully I can use them on the Xbox One.

Oh yeah, it's annoying I know. Especially for SP games. Which is why the OG XB1 vision got the backlash it got, as much as lems liked to pretend it was just cows "getting mad".

I was playing PvZ non-stop on the PS4 until the 24th :( Such a fun game! I want to play it so bad right now! However since that one is online only I don't get too mad about it since I expect to not be able to do so whenever the actual network is on maintenance or down. With a SP only game like DA I would be extremely annoyed though....

@Desmonic: DA:I works offline. The problem is that for some reason the game when you're starting tries to connect to origin and stays doing so for a while ( about 5 - 10 minutes ) while the network is down. Then it let's you play offline. Might be that new DRM. It checks connection to the origin server when you log in for some reason, and because you need access to the PSN to get to origin it stays attempting to connect. It is a tad bit annoying but this is something from both ends.

Never had any issues with Netflix "ps4" all day yesterday. Using it right now.

This has always been the crux of my argument with people who are standing firm with their "physical copies are better" stance. IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE and it hasn't for a while now. Aside from having a plastic case to sit on your shelf, there is almost no difference between the two versions.

Your physical game is subject to the same internet checks as the digital download. If your connection to their servers is interrupted for any reason, you aren't playing anything, digital or physical. This varies slightly depending on the publisher and to be fair most have an offline mode, but as in Dragon Age's example sometimes it doesn't work..

I've been able to play the 2 freebies I got with the system (Far Cry 4, TLOU) so it hasn't been a total loss. I'm enjoying FC4 quite a bit. I can't wait to do some coop..

You know, if this shit keeps happening, we as consumers should hold them accountable for it. Why keep rewarding them by throwing money at something that doesn't work as promised?

We should stop subscribing to these services if they can't stop DOS attacks in the future. Why should consumers have to suffer this if the companies we support are at the will of criminals?

I've always been among the biggest console supporters for years, so I don't say this lightly: we deserve better, so if they can't fix this we should all convert to PC gaming, and stop supporting both Sony and Microsoft consoles.

PS3 works fine but unable to sign in on ps4 I hope those lizard squad asshats get whats coming to them.

Really annoying. Just my luck this would happen the day after I get a PS4. I can still play games but it's a pain in the ass that a lot of features on the system don't work because I can't sign in. I assume there will be massive apologies and people falling on their swords or whatever blah, blah. I'm really getting tired of apologies about shit that could have been handled better.
