But as we already know, Sony/PS isn't the most consumer friendly company. But I guess you can't blame them, when fanboys like you make excuses for them and say the anti-consumer behavior is ok.

But you said you are a collector and still wanted a a ps4 to play ps4 games even when the ps5 could play all ps4 games already making the system obsolete.

But if you care about BC why wouldn't just play ps4 games BC on aPS5 instead of having to buy both? That doesn't make any sense.
I understand issues with PS3 BC, but PS1/PS2 emulation is doable. I imagine challenges there could be more legal than technical.
They clearly want people to adopt PS Now, in ways withholding BC forces this. They are acting just like Nintendo with their Switch VC, in withholding opportunity to buy, and reneging on the previous digital purchases of their users on past systems.
They are capable though, it would take time to get to a better place, MS started years ago on XB1 and has been focused on BC since. Sony is making late attempt and is now realizing it takes work to get there.
You think with all the great work a Sony did building its digital BC library on PS3 that to bring it over to PS4, honor user rights, build further off that, that could have been something great. The uncontested success of the PS4 brought arrogant Sony back. And I don't expect them to grow from this oversight without being compelled to.
@ProtossRushX: Because I’m a collector and want the system in my collection. I’m not planning on getting a PS5 for awhile. I care about backwards compatibility because it makes things easier to play a classic game whenever the mood strikes me but I still enjoy having certain things in my gaming collection. 🤷♂️
PS4 and PS5 both use the same AMD x86-64 architecture. PS3 uses an entirely different Cell architecture. This means the PS5 can have native compatibility with PS4 games, but not PS3 games, which would need to be emulated.
you think someone saying im not buying the ps 5 because it won't play ps1 games or ps2 or ps3?
I currently don't plan on buying a PS5, but if it was BC with all their previous consoles I definitely would.

i wouldn't throw it in xbox fans face if it was.
ps5 does not need to play ps1-4 for it to win any console race. its needs next gen games to win period.
