i have a radeon 7570 graphics card with 8gb of ram (not unlike a ps4) but my monitor is from 06, LCD, 19 inches diagonal, has no HD, i can run almost any game in the past 3 years on ultra-high. witcher 2 and probably crysis 3 are exceptions.

i also have a ps3 which is hooked up to an HDTV, but it's still a console (and essentially equivalent to low-setting pc's)

why even bother with a powerful rig like that if you're just gonna use a crappy/Old monitor? upgrade it OR hook it up to your hdtv.

why have an ultra high end pc and not get a hd monitor you can pick them up for $80/£60

anyway until you get a HD screen consoles win hands down just for it being in hd, and anyway why don't you just hook up your pc to the hdtv, and there you go.

7570 is far from powerful.

He can max out most of his games only because he's playing at some very low resolution... however, I wonder what kind of a LCD monitor from 2006 doesn't support 720p.

Well its powerful enough to where he shouldnt be using a ancient monitor with NO HD output.....

So you will be playing PS4 in SD too then since you dont have a HDTV to hook your "Ultra-High" computer up to? In that case, PC. If that isnt the case, still PC.

Hold on, what resolution is your 19" monitor? I'm guessing 1280 x 1024 right? That's actually equivilent to 720p really but in a different aspect ratio (720p is 1280 x 720). So technically the old consoles will be outputting a similar native res and the PC will likely look much better still on max settings. I guess you may be getting upscaled 1080p though if your TV supports it.

However a 19" screen is pretty small to be playing games on these days! I'd get yourself a 1080p 27" odd monitor or hook your PC up to the TV. Even if you don't run at the native res, go with 720p and set everything else to ultra it will still likely look better than 360/PS3 in most cases. You will certainly struggle to hit ultra settings at 1080p on most modern games with that card though.

Surely it's time to be thinking of next gen though. ;) Your card is going to start to struggle even at 1280x1024 soon I imagine. Upgrade or get one of the new consoles if you want to be playing anything new.

are you sure is a 7570? Cause that is not a high end pc. A 7570 is the lowest discrete gpu you can buy. Is good for 720p but anything more is no good

hehehe..similar 19" at 1280x1024.. except I have HD5870...can run most if not all games at max setting with 8xAA & 16AF ..only some games have to drop to High or just no AA. :P The good thing about this is, no need to upgrade card every 2-3yrs :P

Two things:

Running something at the native resolution fo your panel is better than running at a resolution lower than that. Still, that's a small monitor and a low rez. I would invest on a 1680x1050 or 1080p panel. They are pretty cheap now a days. You won't eb able to run at max settings, but anywhere from medium/high should do the job at 1080p.

People aren't usually stuck with stupid choices like that since anyone buying a high end PC will most likely have the money to get a decent monitor

And 7570 is far from ultra high.

Get a DP to HDMI adapter and use your PC with your HDTV.

i thought this was about your "real life" setup and not a hidden troll thread. RIGHT? xD. Too obvious. Also that gpu will probably suicide itself if you run latest games at 1080p resolution.

One does not simply play on an ultra-high end PC without HD.

If you can afford the rig, surely you can cough up enough for a new monitor.

HD 7570 is not "ultra-high", or even close to that. As far as I know, even an HD 7730 is more powerful than that. And that card itself can only run games at 720p, if you want to increase graphic detail and maintain at least 30 FPS.

So, yeah, it's probably best that you don't go for anything HD.

I would get your gaming rig in order for starters, including a monitor that can handle HD resolutions.

PC + HD. That's why we buy PCs. Why should I choose between two things that make no sense? I get HD on my high end PC already.

I like how people are pretending Radeon 7570 is a weak card just to sound self-important. The fact is that while there are stronger cards out there, it is just about on par with the PS4 (and by consequence Xbox One) - which will be in the market for 8 years.

But nobody still answered my question on what looks better. High performance with no HD. Or low performance with HD>

I don't have to pick between the two. I have a high end rig WITH HD and a PS3 with HD. I win.

ok you either trolling or you know nothing about hardware. 7570 is the weakest discrete gpu you can buy from Amd nowdays. Ps4 has a custom gpu that theoretically should be equivalent to a 7850/7870. You know where 7570 is?

7970>7950>7870>7850>7790>7770>7750>7730>7670>7570

Hell is slower than most 6xxx series gpu as well

6970>6950>6870>6850>6790>6770 and then that 7570 you call high end

Is a nice little card for non demanding games at 720p but thats it

Great answer. I'd guess it's 1280x1024 also, though it could be a 19inch widescreen at 1600x900 or something but either way it would still satisfy 720p HD. Might be OK for him if it's just on a desk.

But yeah, a better graphics card would be nice for Drekula. I don't know what the budget is, but, 7870 is best value at the moment. http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu

Hard to even find a benchmark for the 7570.

To answer TC's question - I'd go with the PC. Why? More games mostly, and I could gradually upgrade it.

7570 powerful?

19" monitor from 06 that isn't 720p or 1024p?

This seems like a bad scenario.

Xbox 360 and PS3 output games in 720p. ANY monitor from at least ten years ago is definitely capable of 720p, so....PC if that's what you're asking.
