PS3 or X360 - which was the better system?

IMO, ps3 had a better library and media features, and this makes it the better system - but the hardware being bonkers and favoring cpu over gpu was following an outdated design philosophy that held it back from what it could have been. but still far my preference over the 360…

I would say PS3 had a slight advantage over Xbox 360. PS3 had free online and a build-in Wi-Fi gave it an edge over Xbox 360. But at the end of the day, they're both great systems of their time.

I started out with a 360. I bought the arcade version. Once I realized it didnt come with wifi, hdmi or even an hdd I slapped the shit out of myself and bought a PS3.

I will never touch Xbox junk hardware again.

360 started so strong. But i think PS3 slowly catch up. I think its the gen sony really was brought to its knees. Personally i prefer sony due to exclusives like MGS4, uncharted 1 and 2, Demons souls, tlou.

I think some of you forget that the X360 launched a year before the PS3.

@davillain: The 360 was also significantly cheaper and didn't have an online service that got hacked. It had the better 3rd party support, and regularly had the "best" console version of multiplats. And, let's be honest here, Xbox Live was superior to PSN back then.

Really, it wasn't even that close. PS3 had some exclusives that gave it legs, but it was reality out done by the 360.

@SolidGame_basic: I think you forgot that the 360 outsold the PS3 until the year the PS4 and XB1 were launching, and that was mainly due to the 12:1 advantage the PS3 had in Japan.

It's well known that Xbox has only had a strong presence in North America and the UK. Everywhere else, it got whooped. Just take the L and move on already 😎

The PS3 was a disaster at launch, and until it was redesigned, a terrible console - hard to develop for, very overpriced, limited 3rd party support.

I'm obviously going with the PS3, it's exclusives we're the best (Uncharted 1,2,3, God of war 3, Heavy Rain, The Last of us, Twisted metal, Resistance 3...), Uncharted was just a lot of fun especially 3, God of War is just a perfect awesome game the best of all time, The Last of us was heartbreakingly beautiful i liked it. The playstation is always the best because of the exclusives, Naughty dig, Santa Monica... They all made incredibly good games, i can't think of any Xbox exclusive that could beat the playstation exclusives.

@dabear: Not only I had to work extra hours back in 2006, I went to the midnight launch as I did for Xbox 360 when Gamestop was still a good company to go in. Sure PS3 had a bad start, there's no denying it. Sony admitted they underestimate MS Xbox 360, they were behind Xbox 360 until MS themselves stop pumping exclusives and got slower with their heavy hitters and that's when PS3 finally was able to catch up Xbox 360. All in all, they both did well in the end and I enjoy both systems but if I must pick one, Xbox 360 would be my choice over PS3. The Will was shit!

Funny how you conveniently ignore that the 360 came out one year ahead and then fell flat by midgen. Meanwhile PS3 had the greatest comeback of all time and was still popping out gems to the very end. I know you want to revise history, but that doesn't change actual history 😎

The PS3 was a loser (and a lesson) for Sony. The PS2 was dominant on an epic scale over GameCube and Xbox. Sony lost is market lead with the PS3. Granted, they did a lot right with the PS4, and MS did *everything* wrong with Xbox One, but that doesn't mean history should be rewritten for the 360-PS3 gen.

The original xbox and 360 were the best console at the time. if you were to hand me either a ps2/3 or og/360 to play for the next year then I would go with with the ps2 and 3

I’d say they were both pretty close, I played Xbox 360 a bit more back then only because I was a big fan of Gears of War.

And the 360 had RROD, a severe lack of 1st party support after the first few years, focus on casual peripherals (Kinect), and pay for online service. Again, you're looking at the 360 with rose tinted glasses. The PS3 had a far better library.

Severe lack of 1st party support? LMAO. First off, not true. Second, there was a whole category of games unique to that gen: "PC360" - games that just skipped Playstation and released on PC and 360.

The running joke in SW that gen was that there were no true cows - everyone who had a PS3 ALSO had a PC and were technicalky manticore (due to the constant reply of "I can play that on PC!")

X360 was better at the start I'll give it that. Sony really screwed up at the beggining. But at the end of both consoles life cycle the PS3 came out on top hands down with top quality exclusives while Xbox had shifted its focus into kinect

Also you're wrong about one thing, the xbox 360 won that gen in sales, kvallyx has the sales numbers straight from AMD. We sold 110 million units, the ps3 sold like 80 million. #xbox #winning heck yeah.
