So Sony justifies the price of the PS3 by calling it an "investment" they claim will be good for 10 years.10 YEARS!? Thats an ETERNITY for gaming hardware! Just ask any cash-strapped hermit :). Anyway lets analyxe Sony's claim...

pfft by then nintendo will release the Wii II with better grafics than the PS3 and a cooler controller

Sure, the PS3 will last 10 years. This does not mean it will be the most powerful console for it's lifetime. Just look at the PS1 and PS2.

I can believe that, because ps2 lasted 7 yrs and going, because of games, but the ps3 won't last 10 years, because of games..NO!!, it will last 10 years because of Die hard Sony fans, who can't afford a ps3, will play their ps2's and they will wait YEARS for a price drop of the ps3, and so will the casuals who are scared to switch to 360 .. they'll wait too..... , so yeah , 10 years i can see that for ps3, WII and 360.........

The first and the forth choice should be the correct ones. If the PS3 succeds in sales and games, it will last for 10 years, just like PS1 and like the PS2.(By lasting it means producing those consoles and also getting a few game like 1 per year :P) But on the oder hand the PS4 will come out just like you said 5-7 years or so.

Maybe what they mean is that it will last 10 years like how the PS2 is still sorta getting a few last games? I dunno, but that price tag is ridiculous no matter how you try and slice it...

if it did, then games would look like crap in comparison to their Xbox720 and Wii 2 game consoles
i would imagine that all consoles this gen will be supplied with great games till they become outdated greatly, unlike the gamecube was and somewhat xbox last gen
