Despite no future support for Dreams, i'm still finishing my current game before moving to a PC engine. Here are the first 15 minutes of PROTOLAND. Final game will be released this fall 🦾💥

Looking good man.
Know it's a dead horse at this point, but this really should've been on PC all along. Or at the very least, give it that send off now. Would definitely attract a community that supports it.
Any specific game engine you plan on checking out?
@PAL360: What engine are you thinking of?
You certainly have options.
In either case, keep up the good work. Looks great!
@ConanTheStoner: I agree. Still Dreams gave me the boost i needed to learn game design. Now i'm more than prepared to move to PC. I love pixelart so my next game will probably be on GODOT or GameMaker 2. I would like to try out Unreal too, but one step at a time.
@PAL360:
Yeah, building some design chops, learning how to navigate the process, that's the hard earned stuff.
Every piece of software has its own quirks and hurdles, but relatively speaking, that's the easy part. Have no doubt you'll sort out a new toolset, come out of it with greater creative freedom.
@last_lap: True. Visual script and fun to use tools are getting popular on PC (GDevelop, Womp, visual script in Unreal, Unity, etc, it's only a matter of time until something as versatile as Dreams comes out. Sony will then regret not having had the vision to put more effort on something they pioneered.
The way Sony mismanaged Dreams is absurd. It had potential to be a huge thing on PC, I can't understand it.
Good luck with future projects.
Nice. I really hope Media Molecule takes the time to port Dreams over to PS5 and PC before moving onto their next game.
@girlusocrazy: Thank you!
Yeah, in a time and era when creating tools are so popular, Sony just decided to drop theirs. They are also saying NO to a ton of indie quality exclusives that people made in Dreams for free. Some of those games could have been great assets in the PS store for a fair price.
I really expected more from a company like Sony, really a shame.
@mysticaldonut: It's up to Sony and not Media Molecule unfortunatly. Servers will be up for years but it was confirmed that there will be no more updates.
They could at least add it to the Plus game list for a player base boost, but looking at how poorly Sony handled Dreams i really don't expect it to happen...

Probably not, yeah. A waste of 7 years if you ask me.
Hoping they bounce back with Littlebigplanet 4
@mysticaldonut: I don't think that investing in Dreams was a waste. Many talented people got into game design thanks to it.
I do think that dropping Dreams was a huge waste of opportunity. There were a ton of possible ways and models to print money with it.

I don't think the project was a waste in that sense, I just mean't commercially it didn't do well. I am sure they were hoping for much larger sales after seven years of development.
It is cool to see what people have been able to create and also that they use it to teach game design in universities now.
@mysticaldonut: Ah of course. Mm had big plans for it for sure. What puzzles me is how Sony were up to invest in it during develpment (when it was just a crazy idea on paper), but not when it came out and got great scores and high praise!
I still think that having had it as part of every PS5 UI would have been a brilliant move.
looking more polished than last time I checked it out. Yeah, get that on the pc for sure...as a web developer, and someone that dabbled in games once, coding is pretty much all the same. Only difference is syntax my man.
Get that chatgpt to help you out and port the game on a popular pc game engine, so you can get off your feet and running quickly.

Lol, I can think of a dozen or so games that have released in the last 15 years that were great fun to play, did commercially well and Sony did not support in the long run.
@blaznwiipspman1: Yeah, i noticed that too. I tried out GM2 and while ago and was surprised on how all the stuff i learned in Dreams could be applied in programs with different scripts. The basis as the same.
I don't think i'll port PROTOLAND to PC, though. It will live in Dreams servers for as long as they stay up, but after 2 years working on this project and testing the same mechanics i really need to create completely different stuff. I have many ideas, my next project will probably be something pixelart in GODOT or GM2.
