Pratcher: XB1: $399, PS4 $349

Not sure why he says the PS4 is is more inexpensive to manufacture, but there it is.

Still, Patcher is less accurate than metoroligists are at predicting next month's weather, so I guess we should take it with a grain of salt.

1. Its Pactcher so cry cows when the PS4 debuts way higher than the 360.

2. If this is true the XB1 is screwed. THe only way MS can compete is to have it priced under the PS4.

Wasn't the suggested price for X1 500$ (300$ with yearly subscription) and the suggested for PS4 430$?

Neither will bring their makers a big loss tho.

This is no repeating of the RRODbox and CELLStation.

I was wondering what the price of the consoles were going to be the other day and I cant see them being like this. The PS4 should be at least 400 to 450 and the X1 will be 350-400

The guy is usually full of shit so I'm not really going to trust him on this.

Ms might have made a mistake by packing those Kinects with every X1. Most people wont see the as a necessary feature and thats going to add to the price. I can see them selling it for 400 and the ps4 could sell for 400 and that would take away at least the price advantage the x1 should have

If I remember correctly, a spokesperson at AMD did state that MS and Sony had similar budgets for their silicon.  That seems to indicate that the system themselves are fairly comparable in manufacturing cost.  In the case of the XBone, however, having Kinect as mandatory could be an albatross.

But anyway, I see PS4 being $400 at the lowest (£359 at the lowest in the UK).

Xbone... could be cheaper as it has less impressive hardware. Maybe if we swap around what Pachter said it could seem doable.

Well X1 has all kinds of OS's and TV crap, so I would think it would cost more because it is half cable box, half game system lol. PS4 has more power though.

Not the same situation, the kinect is far more expensive and will be bundled with the console, the eyetoy is optional and is just a fancy webcam.

It makes sense from the BoM side of things, but the question (particularly with the Xbone) has always been how big a profit/loss per unit MS and Sony would target. MS could be anywhere from $300-$500 depending on what their marketing department is telling them (i.e. sell it cheap and make the difference back on XBL vs. it's a premium product that can be sold at a premium price), and Sony is going to be under pressure to keep the price as high as they think gamers will stomach considering the company's less than stellar financials.

Also worth noting that MS is all-but-certainly going to push XBL-subscription subsidized SKUs again, so even if the MSRP is $400 most people are probably going to be picking them up for $200 (based on how they currently price the subsidized 360s).

The PS4 one is say to be not included,in act shots from a promo video of the PS4 show  remark about the camera been sold separately.
