Hello. First of all, please don't think too much about the poll and it's subjectivity. Please choose the answer which best reflects yourinterest level as defined by you, regarding Project Shield at this point in time (or decline to answer the poll).

I am wondering about the appeal of this device. Little is known about it, here is some info, all from http://shield.nvidia.com/:

Take your gaming anywhere with Project SHIELD, a gaming portable designed for gamers who yearn to play when, where and how they want. With the advanced processing power of NVIDIA® Tegra® 4, a full-size game controller, breakthrough Wi-Fi technology, and stunning HD video and audio, Project SHIELD redefines what gaming can be.NVIDIA

The following information was obtained from ExtremeTech:

There are a bunch of videos on YouTube where you can see it running, just query 'Project Shield' and you're golden. I was quite impressed by what I saw.

Anyway, if I were to answer my own query publicly, I'd say 'Medium'. My interest stems from the versatility of the device. I quite like the idea that even if I don't end up playing games on this, it's still quite multi-purpose. If it has GPS functionality, I think that's a huge plus. I found the 'stream to PC' side of things appealling, however none of my machines have NVIDIA graphics cards in them, and apparently this is required for the streaming. But obviously, this thing will cost money, I feel it needs the right combination of games, compelling features, and a great price in order to take my money. My impressions are that it's a feature rich and powerful mobile device.

Mostly because I still don't really 'want' this thing, I'm just 'medium' interested.

The thing seems pointless to me.

If I'm in my home, I'll just play on my computer.

Yeah...

And even if I'm outside and need a gaming fix, do I really want to play something like Skyrim?

Nah, will take out my phone instead, and kill a few brain cells with something quick and simple like Angry Birds... :P

It's an android device with (what I guess and hope) a pretty good chip, for an android device. It would probably not produce graphics that will drop my jaw. And the streaming is pointless.

I can see this being useful on long journeys but battery life comes into play. I do however like the fact thats its running pure Android. I'll be awaiting the price as it could make or break it for me.

Extremely high. I want an Android tablet and the ability of streaming my PC video feed to it is very interesting.

As far as buying it I am not very interested but I do think it is a cool concept and want to learn more about it. If the price isn't outrageous it's something I may consider just as a novelty.

29 votes, that took off fairly quickly. Definitely skewed towards disinterest.

A mixed bag of responses.

I have very little interest in mobile gaming in general but if I was going to get a handheld gaming device it would probably be this.

I probably wont buy it (unless it is really cheap), but as a tech enthusiast it is pretty interesting. I think it is a good piece of hardware and has potential, but for me that would only be something I would pay maybe 150 for, which is NOT going to be the pricepoint :P.

The thing looks ugly, but I would love to play Xcom or baldurs gate on the go...but then again you need a steady internet wifi connection to even do that and most likley only in your home... so it would be pointless when I can just get on the pc.. For looks the thing doesn't not look that great, and i already have a vita and a 3ds. (and a ds and psp) which all have 1st party games...nvidia will not be making those.. and it will be just phone games. which suck (and i have an ipod for those).

I'm at the moment unsure how I feel about this device... Perhaps at E3 they'll go into details about things like price point and battery life. But for now, anything that helps me to get my game fix during my four hours of commuting a day that isn't on the 3DS is something I'd be interested to give at least some kind of chance.

If I can FFXI on the go, I would love this, if I can't I'm sure the WoW heads would buy it up.

MMOing on the go could be massive for some people, skyrimming on the go just sounds like a pron movie gone wrong.

it's most definently on my radar.

more so then the Razer gaming tablet.

but right now i'm holding off for what PS4 and Steam Box will look like. those have my attention the most at the moment - when looking at new hardware.

I have zero interest.

I have four gaming PCs, every console released...I don't have the need.

As far as portability, I have handhelds and smartphones. I won't be busting this thing out in the Dentist office or Airplane. Nah, no way.

High. It'll come no where close to replacing my beefy gaming rig, but being able to play my Steam library on the go in Wi-Fi is nice I guess.

This, especially since it can broadcast to the TV. The only thing that somewhat holds me back is that I can't imagine using the device for anything but games, despite running pure Android.

I might be the only one that is interested in it. I believe that Android has the chance to really take off in terms of gaming. Its already shown what it can do in a phone and now it gets the chance to be powered by a beastly GPU. Its a completely dedicated handheld. If Nvidia market this right and keep the price low and thats the key. Keeping the price low will entice people to get one. Right now, we have a Vita or a 3DS for handheld, portable gaming, with the Vita lagging in sales and the 3DS just been cracked. I can see this making waves.

Also, OP here is a video on Project Shield by Totalbiscuilt.

not the only one clyde, i have been really getting into gaming on my Droid, playing dragons lair, space ace and Sworcery (amazing game) i am very interested in the prospect of also playing Pc games on the go, if i had one of these i wouldn't have to stop playing even to go to the loo, i can take it with me, i really hope this is all i expect it to be and it's reasonable Price so i can trade both my 360's to get one.
