Pokemon Sun/Moon ☀️? Special Demo Rolling out on the eShop ???

It's currently out in Australia and should be appearing in other regions through the eShop; Assuming if you can get it from the flooded eShop as it took me a few attempts to get past the store and download it.

US release is 7am PST, apparently.

Gonna give it a spin now. Not sure how long the demo is, or what it has, but you can get some special Greninja out of it by playing it that you can transfer to Pokemon Sun/Moon once it's out.

Going to download this when I wake up, before I go and buy a Xbox One tomorrow.

Demo was ok.

Was too short to allow me to fully form an opinion of it, and the pokemon snap gimmick felt unnecessary.

Still a better game than Persona 4.

On a serious note, the demo did do a good job showing of the new Combat UI (Which is pretty neat), and give a taste of a few new features, but it didnt exactly sell me on the game. The lack of random encounters in the cave was a breath of fresh air.

For all intents and purposes. That game actually has a shot of being legit.

There's an "endgame of it." Did you try that? Based off the trailer, and what you can do in the endgame, they may officially have done away with hm's?

Didnt notice anything of an endgame in it.

As for the video at the end. Yes, it is very possible they have effectively done away with HMs.

I like some of the changes they did, but the demo was way too short. I don't even have an opinion yet.

Have not tried it. No real interest to, either. Passing on Pokemon until they change up the gameplay more than the incremental nonsense they've been doing since Gen 1.

Demo leaked the Alola pokedex it looks like. Bringing the total national Pokedex to 803. So 82 new Pokemon excluding the new forms. Some people are upset that the cute 4 legged Fire starter evolves into another bipedal Pokemon lol.

Played through it yesterday. Short, but not much to really gauge with the demo. It's a nice taste that has me excited about the game; doing so without spoiling too much. One thing that stuck out is that the way the world is constructed no longer adheres to the usual grid-like layout. The route that you have access to has you moving across windy turns, variable slopes and the visual language of smashable rocks and patches of grass just look more natural to the world instead of being some square object or rectangle. It's nice because it takes advantage of the analog movement that the game has commuted to, as well as the sharp angled camera that points out to the horizon. Yet, it still looks like Pokemon with its saturated colour palette.

While I like what they've done with the battle UI. The biggest disappointment I can say is how much friction is still present within menu navigation, it could serve to be a tad bit responsive, but at least it's not as bad as XY; it's about the same as ORAS. I'm also a little worried about the frame rate drops that were present in that 2v1 totem fight scenario, that was only 3 pokemon in a game that has doubles/triples and is promoting that battle royale thing.

Yeah, there's a post game demo. It allows you to ride on the Tauros. It features the ability to dash and smash rocks. It seems to be the replacement for Rock Smash.

I played through the demo yesterday. I like how they showed off the new features like z-moves, taking pictures, and the updated battle system but it was too short for my liking.

They're starting to hit an issue of too many Pokemon imo. I like options, and I want more dual types that haven't been used yet, but at the same time it's like do we really need another rattata or pidgey clone after getting them every new gen?

I like the idea of having new starters, new legendaries, new dual types, and then just making new forms of old Pokemon.

I love the new pokemon designs. And I haven't really liked the pokemon designs since the original ones. That's a big plus. I also like the move explanation you can call upon during a battle.

I don't like the camera portion in the demo. It didn't feel exciting or interesting because they make it so obvious that I thought I was playing Dora. Hopefully that was just for the demo's sake.
