If you were to ask me, I would pick Black Ops as the supreme title in the blockbuster franchise. Why? Well, despite the slow gameplay in comparison with the Modern Warfare series, I think Treyarch did so many things right. Introduced new, fun, creative killstreaks, balanced out the perks, theatre mode, the currency system, the new game modes in multiplayer, the combat record; where you can see some interesting stats of your player and all the others, fun weapons to use and their support after the game release was immense. And I haven't even mentioned the zombie mode, which many like.

In second place, is Modern Warfare 2. I like this game, because in terms of pure fun, it is unbeatable. Extremely entertaining killstreaks to use, good modern weapons, nice factions, music etc. MW2 was an epic experience.

I haven't played MW3 long enough to create such an opinion of it, though.

What's your favourite game and why?

--

For me,

1. Black Ops

2. Modern Warfare 2

3. Call of Duty 4

4. World at War (zombies)

COD4: Modern Warfare. One of the best games ever made :) The ones before I didn't care too much for, think MOH did WW2 better. The ones after got a bit weird/samey.

Definitely COD2. In fact, along with 1 and 4, it's the only one I like. I'm done with that series.

Personally for me it's

Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare

Call of Duty : Black Ops

Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3

Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2

MW3 is higher then MW2 really only because it ENDS the story arch, and has some amazing set pieces, even though it is shorter then all previous Call of Duty's to date (i did not buy it, i rented).
the mission to keep the Russian President safe on the plane was amazing, loved it
Blacks Ops i will admit, i did not see the twist coming. I knew on the first playthrough something fishy was going on, but i did love it.

So you like a game in a series only when the series isn't popular? Sound like a fanboy to me. :?

I think MW3 is better than MW2, but MW2 was much better for its time, despite its problems concerning the balance in the game.

Call of Duty 4 World at War Modern Warfare 3 Black Ops Now I will let you choose the system wars hater response you will see in this thread: A) call of duty 1 before Activision killed it B) Battlefield. Cause it's better. C) COD sucks D) None of them. They all suck. They are unbalanced garbage.

I kinda like MW3, it has the best unlock system of any COD. Gun levels are pretty cool, almost like playing an RPG.

I had the most fun with COD 4, but it doesn't have the same effect on me now as it did back in 07-08.

I like MW2, but MW3 is like an updated MW2 without the **** And I like CoD4, too. But I never played it when everybody else was... I was playing Gears and Halo until Black Ops.

That's when I got into the series. And I am surprised so few picked Black Ops, which I think is the most excellent game, to be honest. :?

I just think CoD4 may have been the last revolutionary game, but the sequels all improve on its formulas, making them better.

CoD 2. It had everything good about CoD 1, but with better visuals and better multi. I didn't like the modern switch of the series tbh.

For Singleplayer: Call of Duty 2, Runner Up: Tie between CoD 1 and Black Ops.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I agree with your friend. I doubt CoD was ever well-known for its SP in the past, anyway. Such games would rather be Half-Life or Stalker.

I agree that it wasn't well known for its SP, i wouldn't be surprise of the players today even played the original but i honestly find it hard how people could just play a yearly release game for its online which hasn't change much since the MW2.

Im actually enjoying MW3 more than any since Cod 4, but as my overall favorite Id have to give it to Cod 1. Never played 2 or 3 so i cant say anything about those. Also, to everyone saying Cod 1 was great because of story, lulz. It wasnt story that made it good, it was the great AI and setpieces that made it great. One thing that pissed me off about Cod 1 though is that the games slogan was "no one fights alone" but then in the british campaign you take down a dam and small army by yourself. That was the most dissapointing thing about the game.

Call of Duty 4 of course. Its a shame they game lacked co-op and the AI had that weird never ending respawn design decision, but it was otherwise amazing on every level.

Modern Warfare 2 was really good too, and better on a LOT of different levels (graphics, co-op, content, etc.), but it was much more unbalanced, didn't have dedicated servers, and had a shorter, weirder campaign.

I also liked Call of Duty 2, but I kind of hated the first one.
