Just checked out a torrent site and over 20,000 PC gamers are currently stealing Tomb Raider while asking for a way to steal Sim City as well. Is any one surprised?

This thread is pointless there are just as many communities for console pirates as well.Â
Masenkoe
No where near those numbers though.
Theft requires someone to lose value when someone else gains it, and most evidence points to the fact the majority of pirates wouldn't legitimately buy anywhere near the same amount of games/movies/music if they couldn't get it free. Ignoring that though, the facts are that the PC continues to grow in size in terms of legitimate players, with Steams concurrent user level constantly breaking year on year records. People pirate on all platforms anyway, sure, it's easier on the PC, but who cares if games still sell and are superior on the platform?Just checked out a torrent site and over 20,000 PC gamers are currently stealing Tomb Raider while asking for a way to steal Sim City as well. what were you doing at torrent sites?

After I heard the game leaked I wanted to just how bad it was being pirated. I expected a few thousand, but nothing like that. Also heard aabout the DRM for Sim City...I am sure the thiefs will break it eventually.
What is sad is a lot of these guys have high end PCs. I always said PC gamers bought expensive hardware then steal the games.

Well spoken damage control there. Yes I do believe a lot of these people would buy the games if they couldn't steal them easily. And you don't think developers/publishers lose value when a game sells less than expected because of pirates? They factor expected sales into production budgets.
Tis a shame :( Sim City is a great game that deserves great sales.
heeweesRus
It will be stolen. Seems to be the main target right now.

Good. I hope you are enjoying it. PC gamers already get the games much cheaper in many cases, but that isn't enough for a lot of them.

Yeah that's a lame fckng response. Pirating greatly affect the pc format for games. If it wasnt, game design would thrive on it instead of getting console ports. Or even better, pc would be the premier platform, where developers wouldn't have to even think about developing for the consoles.PC Pirates 200:1 vs consoles. The same people who also endorses Steam DRM and in-game microtransactions such as stupid hats and MMO cosmetics. Indeed, they are the plague to the gaming industry.

In the 30 yrs the PC has been around piracy has also been there yet it has not killed it and all these decades later and the market is actually growing.
So you can naysay and doom and gloom it all you like but someone must be buying the games for the market to grow.
Seously i hit 21 yrs in november as a pc gamer and have heard the usual "pirates" and "pc gaming is dying" death crys probably thousands of times now and it never changes, i think i have enough first hand exerience to know that it will keep defying the odds.
My friend told me there is 10,000 copies of TR being "leached"(whatever that means) and Gears of War Judgment is already been out for 2 weeks. Heil68a
Leached means currently being downloaded. That number is over 20,000 copies now.

Yeah so console pirates have been at it before PC pirates

Promoting awareness of PC piracy.
Its nice that you completely avoided talking about the fact that 360 pirates were downloading and sharing Tomb Raider and Gears of War Judgement weeks ago yet will quite happily jump on and demonise PC gamers for pirating.[QUOTE="Masenkoe"]

Maybe not from download sites. But, most console pirate scum buy pirated discs. It doesn't take many to download a master copy.
