OMG PS3 outsells 360 in 2007 by 1.5 Million

Despite the heavy criticism PS3 recieved last year as well as the many problems facing the PS3 (e.g. High Price tag 3/4 of the year) I am amazed to Say that PS3 actually outsold the 360 by a whopping 1.5 million. Funny when you consider that PS3 didn't have any of the established titles like MGS4, FF13 & GT5 but 360 had Halo 3 which is the biggest title for Microsoft and is the reason why Microsoft are still in the console game yet it didn't help 360 to outsell PS3 throughout 2007, not to mention 360 had other killer apps such as Bioshock & Mass Effect etc.

Proof that PS3 is the better console and it's even amazing when you consider that PS3 came out later in Europe and arrived in March 2007. Since 360 couldn't outsell PS3 last year even though last year was really presumed difficult for PS3 then 360 doesn't have a chance to outsell PS3 this year because the established franchises like MGS4 & GT5 will arrive along with Resistance 2, LBP etc

PS3 sold a total of 8.83 million in 2007 while the 360 sold 7.3 million. bu bu teh 360 sellz betta :cry:

Although it is a source from Sony, I'm kind of suprised because just the NPD charts for the US alone have a pretty hefty ratio in favor of the 360 last year. I didnt even think the extra support Sony got from other countries would have broken even with the 360 for 2007.

Wow...and Halo 3 came out in 2007 too. That's some major ownage right there. What's even more ownage, is the PS3's library isn't that great (yet) and still it outsells the 360? It looks like people are buying the PS3 for more than just games.dream431ca

Hi there Blackbond, long time no see dude :) Anyway yeah I created a thread to bash the 360... again :P seriously dude since I was here in 2007 I know how much the lemmings have been hating and bashing the PS3 and saying that 360 will outsell PS3 this year, although I don't blame them since the odds were against the PS3. PS3 outselling 360 in 2007 is nothing short of a miracle in my book, now this year is certain for another defeat for 360 in the hands of PS3 because the PS3 is well prepared this year games-wise.

Yeah I still don't own a PS3 :P but remember I said June when MGS4 is launched. I'm glad you didn't twist PS3's victory to make 360 look better :)

Sony's plan may actually be working.

Blu-ray looks to be their plan, and when Blu-ray is leading the format war (for both games and movies) it looks pretty good for Sony right now.

Well the only "valid" argument I could think of, is that 360 already had more numbers so had a more difficult public to sell to.. PS3 on the other hand...

Oh well, I don't give a damn. I'm just waiting for sony to bundle in some games again and then I'll buy my PS3, which will be sitting next to my Wii, 360, and PS2 (damn you sony for "deleting" backwards compat)

I've set it before and I'll say it again. Fanboys dig their own graves. What goes around comes around. I've said it with cows, lemmings and sheep. Nothing is certain and nothing is 100% concrete predictable. Its best just to see how things pan out.

At this rate you might have a PS3 before me. I still can't track down a 20GB/60GB :(

I think the bashing was well deserved after the way the cows acted from 05 to 06. But you wouldn't know any better since you joined this year. Maybe it is time to let it go, but I hope cows also learned a lesson. Good to see the PS3 gaining momentum though.

Whoever said sales shouldn't be talked about are just jeleous...

I personally am not interested in Wii sales because I think Wii sells to different people altogether than 360/PS3 at this point, and I'm also not a Wii fan but if I were a sheep I would be touting it more than sheep are now lol. I definitly won't critisize sheep for bragging a little bit as long as they don't rub it in too much or try to predict the "downfall" of the other platforms.

mmmmm no. I think it's more to do with how strong the PS brand is. The Xbox brand is plenty strong, but don't go comparing it to Nintendo or Playstation.
